Appointments

Access appointment making and cancelling services on-line.

You can book a 10 minute appointment with any doctor - GP partners and GP registrars - at a time to suit you. If there are no appointments available, try the next day as they are released in batches.

If you have an urgent medical need please telephone the practice between 0800 and 1830 to book an appointment directly with the Receptionist team.

If you subsequently do not need the booked appointment whether booked on line or not, please cancel it as soon as possible on-line or by contacting the Practice to make it available for another patient.

Unfortunately you cannot book multiple appointments, nor can you currently book nurse appointments as these are tailored to the skill set of individual nurses and procedure duration. The System supplier has not included greater functionality at present.

Summary Care Record

Every patient registered with a GP in the United Kingdom will have a summary care record (SCR). This is a list of medications prescribed in the last year and any allergies ever recorded BY YOUR GP.

It does not include medications prescribed or allergies recorded by out of hours services or any hospitals.

This information can be accessed by any GP including when you are on holiday in the UK, hospital A&E departments and hospital Pharmacists but not by other hospital doctors.

It should be accessed, with your permission, in order to prevent harm that may occur by giving you incorrect or inappropriate medications.

The SCR does not hold any clinical information unless you have expressly given your consent to this being added by your GP e.g. epileptic, severe asthmatic etc.

You may opt out of the SCR but this will mean that important medication information would not be available if you did not know or could not give it yourself.

Requesting Prescriptions

Many prescriptions are issued by the Doctor, Practice Nurse or Clinical Pharmacist during a consultation – acute prescriptions. Doctors may then authorise that repeat prescriptions can be provided for the regular treatment of a longer term condition – repeat prescriptions.

Request a medication that is included on your repeat medication list.

Any items on your repeat prescription can be requested simply by ticking the items on the repeats list. Doctors authorise repeat prescriptions for a limited number of issues as the ongoing use of the treatment will require review by a doctor, nurse or pharmacist.

If you are making an early request e.g. to take medication on holiday, medication has been lost, please make a comment in the comments field so that doctor can issue an early prescription without having to contact you.

If an item requires re-authorising(zero issues shown), it will not be available for you to tick.

However, you can still make a request by writing in the comments box. When the request is processed, the medication will be:

Re-authorised and issued or;

Re-authorised for one issue with a corresponding letter to you stating what review is due or;

Declined if you need to see a clinician first.

If you have a request that does not appear on the repeat list, but it is reasonable and safe to do so, the clinician may still issue a prescription (see below, acute prescriptions).

Request a medication that is NOT included on your repeat medication list.

If you have previously received a medication that you:

Use regularly but for some reason it has not been put on the repeat list;

It was a trial and you wish to continue;

It has not been requested for some time so is automatically removed by SystmOne;

You only need it occasionally;

Then please make the request in writing in the comments field, and, wherever safe and appropriate to do so, the medication will be issued.
