Collecting your Growing Well Crop Share
Collection times:
Our shares are ready for collection on Thursdays each week*from 4pm. You can collect your share from the chiller anytime from then until the following Wednesday 9am.(Any produce left in the chiller after this time will be distributed amongst our volunteers.) Please try to collect between the hours of 8am and 6pm (this is so as not to disturb the Park family at home). The back entrance to Low Sizergh Farm is never closed, only the front gate. Out of office hours, and all over the weekend, the barn doors will be open – there is no need for a key. Please just pull the doors shut again as you leave.
The chiller:
Shares are left in our chiller (a big fridge) in our packing area. Our packing area is in the Low Sizergh Farm cow shed facing the main road. The doors are directly opposite the Low Sizergh Barn sign hanging on the main road. The doors to our packing area slide open to the side (be careful as they are heavy). Once inside, our white chiller is facing you. Instructions for where you can find your share will be on the door of the chiller. Shares are not named, so simply collect your Share. They are in canvas bags on the chiller-shelves to the left.
Bags:
Each share is packed into a reusable green jute bag. PLEASE bring a bag with you and repack your share – leaving the green bags on the shelves opposite the chiller for us to pack the following week’s share. We can use the green bags again and again and are a considerable cost to us.
As a new member of our cropshare scheme, we will give you a natural jute bag bearing the Growing Well logo which you could use to repack your share. Just remember to bring it with you each week.
**Your first bag will be on a separate shelf with your name on it.
The Swap Box:
In reaction to feedback we now offer some choice to shareholders in the form of a “swap box”. We will stock the swap box in the chiller with some surplus of that week’s produce, and if you wish to swap something from your bag, please feel free to exchange it with something from the swap box. This is simply on a first-come-first-served basis.
Local Co-ordinators:
Growing Well does not doany deliveries. As a Shareholder you are ultimately responsible for the collection of your own share. However, we try to assist by linking up Shareholders who live in the same areas. These Local Co-ordinators are people who have volunteered to assist in a small way with picking up others’ shares if it’s convenient. Please feel free to prompt us to email this list out if you haven’t received one yet. You can contact your local co-ordinator to work out how best to minimise car journeys out to Growing Well to pick up shares.
*In the winter months we can’t provide weekly bags - we aspire to a regular pattern of 3-weekly then fortnightly bags from January to May and weekly bags from June to December. Please see your “Crop Share Dates” leaflet for dates; look out for emails letting you know “What’s In the Bag?” for each share.
