After-School Enrichment Winter/Spring 2013
Long Branch PTA sponsors a variety of after-school enrichment classes for students wishing to extend learning beyond the regular school day.
New Classes
New classes this session: Amazing Adventures, Hoop Dance, Mystery Madness, Intro to Tennis, and Urban Dance. Course descriptions are available online at Paper copies are available in the Long Branch front office.
Registration Reminders
Classes fill up quickly and not all students will get into the courses they want.If enrollment exceeds the class maximum after Day 1 of registration, a ‘lottery system’ will be used to ensure all students (walkers, bus riders, etc.) have an equal chance of getting a spot. All submissions (online & paper) received by January 4 at 7:00 p.m. will be collected and spots will be drawn out of a hat. If the minimum number of students in a course is not met, the class will be canceled.
If a desired class is full, we will contact you to select a different class. You do not need to indicate alternative classes on the registration sheet or online.
Girls on the Run, Piano, and Violin: Registration for these classes is done directly with the organization (Girls on the Run) or instructor (piano and violin). The Long Branch enrichment team is available for questions on these programs, but will not list class details here. Enrollment for piano and violin occurs on a rolling basis as openings become available, and notifications of any openings will appear in the Principal’s Pen.
Registration Process
Enrollment can be done online or by paper. Your efforts to complete the form online are greatly appreciated.
HOW TO REGISTERONLINE REGISTRATION / PAPER REGISTRATION
When? / Begins: Thursday, Jan. 3 at 7:00 p.m.
Ends: Tuesday, Jan. 15 at 3:00 p.m. / Begins: Friday, Jan. 4 at 8:00 a.m.

STEP 1: Enrollment / Go to Long Branch PTA website at and click on the link for “Enrichment Registration.”For multiple children, submit separate online forms. / Please complete one paper form per child and provide requested information on the front side of the form. On the back, mark an “X” for each class requested.
STEP 2:
Pay & Submit /
- Once online form is complete, submit a check(s) in an envelope labeled “PTA Enrichment” to your child’s teacher (or hand deliver to the enrichment box in main office). Checks must be received by Friday, Jan. 18, to complete registration. Spots will not be held while we wait for checks.
- Please submit scholarship donations by Jan. 18.
- Make check payable to appropriate individual or organization (see “Payable To” column on grid).
- Include one check per student, per class, and include child’s name in memo field.

Nuevas Clases

Se Les Recuerda Las Registraciones
Las clases se llenan rapido y no todos los estudiantes podran obtener registrarse en el curso que ellos deseen. Si la inscripcion supera el maximo de las clase depues del primer dia de registracion, un “sistema de loteria” se usara para asegurar que todos los estudiantes (caminan, en bus, etc.) tendran igual la oportunidad de obtener un espacio. Ninas Sobre Carrera (Girls on the Run), Piano, y Violin: La registracion para estas clases se haran directamente con las organizacion (Girls on the Run) o el instructor (piano y violin). PTA Ortega Scholarship Fund
Scholarships are available from the PTA Ortega Scholarship fund based on student need and availability of funds. This fund was established in memory of the Long Branch PTA parent volunteer who initiated enrichment classes, and is supplemented by generous donations from Long Branch parents. Thanks to your generous support, the PTA awards scholarships to students who would otherwise be unable to participate in enrichment classes.

NOTE: Contributions to the Long Branch Ortega Scholarship Fund are tax-deductible. A receipt confirming your contribution will be mailed to you at the address in the school directory.

The PTA wishes to make enrichment classes available to as many Long Branch students as possible. Please restrict scholarship requests to one class per child. Full scholarships are possible, but parents/guardians are encouraged to apply for partial scholarships. ALL requests are confidential. PTA Ortega Scholarship Fund
Scholarshipestan disponibles de la PTA Ortega Scholarship fondos, basados sobre un estudiante la necesidad y disponibi lidad de fondos.
