Dear Families & Friends of Gorman Crossing,
The last week of school is always a great time to reflect on the year that we are about to conclude. We have celebrated many successful events, survived enormous amounts of snow, and we have welcomed many new babies for our staff members (4 so far, 6 coming soon!)
The end of a school year also brings about many changes and goodbyes. We will say farewell to all of our 5th graders and celebrate them and their time at Gorman Crossing on Tuesday, June 17th.
We will also say goodbye to a few of our staff members who will be moving on to explore new opportunities.
Please join me in wishing the following staff members well in their new roles …
Sheida Ghavam, ESOL teacher, retiring
Analicia Roser, Kindergarten teacher, relocating to Virginia
Anna Gannon, Technology teacher, moving to Ellicott Mills Middle School
Michelle Weiner, Special Education teacher, moving to Jeffers Hill Elementary School
Gail Loeffler, Special Education teacher, moving to St. John’s Lane Elementary School
Katie Collins, Special Education teacher, moving to Hammond Elementary School
Stephanie Arnold, Art teacher, moving to Waverly Elementary
Bill Rose, Strings teacher, moving to Swansfield Elementary and Centennial Lane Elementary
I will keep you posted on any changes and introduce any new staff members throughout the summer!
Enjoy the last week of school.
Mrs. Caldwell, Principal

Box Tops:
We are finally finished counting and there were over 7,000 Box Tops submitted during the April/May contest! A huge thank you to all of the parents, students, and teachers who participated. Gorman Crossing will receive a check for approximately $700 (each Box Top is worth 10 cents). There were so many large submissions this time around, but the clipper who came out on top was Elijah Nichols who submitted 500 Box Tops!!! For his efforts, Elijah will receive a $20 gift certificate to Sweet Frog. Dean Beaumier came in at a very close second, followed by Julianna Blair. They also won Sweet Frog gift certificates of $15 and $10 respectively. Please contact Tanyita Ruley at to make arrangements to collect your gift certificates. Thanks again!

SUMMER FUN ACTIVITIES
Our K-3 classes did "Summer Fun Activity Calendars" throughout this month. The students were able to pick 27 (out of 40) fun summer activities that they would want to do over the summer time to keep their brains sharp! This calendar is an optional activity with a Gordy Buck reward tied to completing and returning the calendar in the 2014-15 school year. Please look for this information coming home in your child's take-home folder (if it hasn't already arrived). If you haven't seen the calendar yet and you would like more information, please feel free to email me for the activities directly. Have a WONDERFUL summer!
Note: If your child has blank spaces on their calendar, you may write in activities that they did over the summer that have to do with FUN and MATH/READING/WRITING. They may use each activity only ONCE on their calendar.
