Role outline:
To lead the development of the Trussell Trust foodbank network in London, ensuring growth and a continued, comprehensive commitment to excellence across the network. Responsible for the management of strategic relationships with corporate partners, and for media liaison.
Responsibilities
Planning
o Develop and communicate the strategy and business plan for foodbank network growth in London
o Regularly review the social, political, and economic context to ensure the plan for network growth is updated
o Agree an annual plan and budget with the Network Director
Management
o Manage, support, and develop the Regional Development Officer for London
o Manage and support foodbank franchisees, ensuring prompt responses to issues
o Implement the agreed business plan in accordance with milestones and targets
Quality assurance
o Ensure all foodbanks in London adhere to agreed procedures and assess them against the foodbank network audit process
o Collate statistics and questionnaires from foodbanks, clients, and partners to inform and enhance the service
o Assist franchisees to develop foodbanks by providing advice, training, and support
o Organise regional foodbank network meetings and events to promote cooperation and best practice
Partnership agreements
o Engage with corporate partners to enhance the value and benefits of foodbank network membership and source funding
o Work with network members to influence local authorities and the London Assembly on policies to tackle poverty
Marketing and fundraising
o Develop a marketing plan to support foodbank network growth in London
o Develop and implement plans that enhance the financial sustainability of the foodbank network by increasing the opportunities and scale of income-generating activities for foodbanks in the network
o Undertake regular talks and presentations to raise awareness and funds
o Attend conferences to raise awareness of the work of foodbanks in London
External relations
o Plan, develop and manage relationships with stakeholders
o Work with PR and Communications colleagues to ensure a dynamic ongoing relationship between the London Assembly, key London stakeholders and the London media.
o Communicate the Foodbank Network’s vision clearly through the media
o Build strong sustainable partnerships with key voluntary sector partners
o Build strong sustainable partnerships with key corporate supporters
Essential Experience
o Project management and development
o Experience of working or volunteering in an organisation that deploys volunteers
o Experience developing strategy, partnerships, and business planning
o A good understanding of franchising and the ability to articulate its value
Key Skills
o Strong in oral communication with good presentation skills
o Driver with clean licence
o Ability to work to tight deadlines in pressurised situations
o Ability to draft concise and communicative reports
o Proactive and strongly driven by personal initiative
o Numerate and comfortable presenting and interpreting statistical data
o Able to develop and to understand financial plans and spreadsheets
