WESSEX COMMUNITY ACTION

Mission & core objectives

Wessex Community Action’s mission is to improve the wellbeing of people living in the Wessex area by providing help, advice, training and support to community and voluntary organisations.

Objectives:

·  To provide a range of support services that include training, information, advice and practical help

·  To support, deliver and develop projects

·  To identify need in local communities and work collaboratively to address those needs

·  To encourage liaison between groups, organisations and agencies

·  To support and enable active representation in the strategic planning of services

·  To participate in and support the voluntary and community sector in strategic partnerships

Membership is open to all organisations and groups with whom we work or have connections. This includes voluntary and community groups and organisations, public bodies i.e. regional government bodies, county, district, town and parish councils, primary care trusts, foundation hospitals, constabularies and any other public body that can subscribe to the aims and vision of this organisation.

Types of membership

1.  Full

Full membership is open to any voluntary, community, third sector organisation or partnership that operates within the area of benefit of Wessex Community Action, or supports and enables such an organisation, and is managed by a committee or board that is made up of volunteers.

Entitlement: Access to all Wessex Community Action services at Member prices

2.  Individual

Individual membership is open to anyone wishing to be associated with the work of WCA, share the aims and vision and wish to be kept informed of its activities and work

Individuals may be appointed to the Board of Directors at which point they assume voting rights

3.  Affiliated

Affiliated membership is open to any organisation or public body that works with or is in partnership with the voluntary, community or third sector

Entitlement: Access to Wessex Community Action services

Receipt of and input to weekly newsletters

There are no voting rights

Application for membership is made by the completion and submission of the application form available from the Wessex Community Action office with the provision of any other information that would support the application.

The final decision on applications for membership shall be determined by the Board of Directors according to their procedures. Decisions on membership are at the absolute discretion of the board. If an applicant is refused membership clear reasons for the decision will be communicated to the applicant.

Members are each entitled to cast one vote on any motion for which votes are to be cast at any General Meeting of Wessex Community Action. Individual and Affiliated members are non-voting.
