To all 2018 HGSL families:

Each year the HGSL Board reviews the prior year’s divisions, in an attempt to continuously make any changes or adjustments necessary to make them evenly competitive and age appropriate, as well as monitor the projected enrollment.

“OLD SILVER LAKE” Spring Recreational Softball League:

HGSL participates in the spring in the “OLD SILVER LAKE LEAGUE” which is a joint league with other neighboring towns….Kingston, Plympton, Pembroke, Carver, Hanson, Whitman, Marshfield & Duxbury. Minor, Junior & Senior division teams will play against similar aged teams from these member towns. Each HGSL team can expect to play half of their games “Home” at Vaughan Playground, and the other half “on the road” at the other member towns. We also do this on a limited basis to the FARM Division level with Kingston, Plympton and Pembroke.

HGSL, like all Old Silver Lake League towns, uses a SCHOOL GRADE based system for our Spring IN-Town divisions, similar to our Youth Basketball programs. (This does NOT effect our summer Hurricanes/All-Star teams which continue to be age based per Softball guidelines).

Below is the breakdown of divisions for 2018:

“ROOKIE-BALL” – Pre-K & Kindergarten - Coaches will be needed. Also we are in need of a volunteer to coordinate this group. Plays on Friday evenings. We partner with Halifax Youth Baseball for this division. Will most likely start the week before Opening Day.

FARM” Division- Grades 1 & 2. Coaches will be needed. Games will be played mid-day on Sundays at Vaughan Playground. Games will be played with not only Halifax teams, but with teams from Plympton, Kingston & Pembroke. Team practices will begin in early-mid April.

“MINOR” Division – Grades 3 & 4. Halifax will field teams to play in the OSLL. Games for this division can be played on Sunday afternoons, Tuesdays & Thursdays, with each team playing approx 2 games per week. Team practices will begin in early April.

“JUNIOR” Division – Grades 5 & 6. Halifax will field teams to play in the OSLL Games for this division can be played on Sunday evenings, Mondays & Wednesdays, with each team playing approx 2 games per week. Team practices will begin in early April.

- If you have a company that would like to sponsor a team, a sponsor form can be downloaded from the league website.

- NO child will be denied participation due to financial hardship.
