UDL 101

SMART Action Plan

SPECIFIC
My Specific Goal related to UDL implementation:
As a UDL team, we will meet at least 1 time per month for the entire school year to learn about the Universal Design for Learning framework in order to increase student engagement in the classroom, gain expertise to improve practice and student outcomes, and design and implement universally designed curriculum materials which reflect embedded scaffolds to support students of all ability levels. By September 2014, all members will implement at least 1 UDL lesson per week and continue to do so until June 2015.
MEASUREABLE
How will my goal be measured? How will I know when my goal is accomplished?
As a UDL team, we will report on the metrics established by the specific goal set.
-Each UDL team member makes 8 out of 10 meetings during the school year
-Each member will upload at least 30 lesson plans to Evernote during the school year
-UDL meeting held once a month for the entire school year and sign-ins documented in Evernote
-Professional Development pertaining to UDL related content will be uploaded into Evernote
ATTAINABLE/ACTION ORIENTED
Specific actions required to achieve my goal:
-Plan monthly meetings with members
-Secure a room to have meetings
-Create an Evernote account/password for Hampden and share with team
-Create an agenda each month and post to Evernote
-Find videos of UDL implementation and upload to Evernote
-Bring student work samples (or team can scan or upload work samples right to Evernote using Tiny Scan)
-Teachers bring their 4 UDL lesson plans to the meeting (or upload to Evernote on a weekly basis)
-Upload UDL Wheel to use for planning lessons in Evernote
-Create lesson plans using the UDL Exchange website
-Find resources/apps to be used in classroom
REALISTIC/RELEVANT
Is my goal realistic within the resources at hand? How is my goal relevant to using the UDL framework to teach the CCSS?
The goal is realistic because as a UDL team we should be meeting monthly during the school year to create a way to gain knowledge professionally to improve practice and student outcomes. In fact, meeting will help us understand the UDL framework even more and be able to scaffold student learning. My goal is relevant to using the UDL framework to teach the CCSS because as a team each member will be creating lessons that are aligned to the Common Core using UDL Exchange.
