MARSHALS WALK AND FIRST TIME TEAM LEADERS WEEKEND2016

  1. Introduction. The RAF WARMA First Time Team Leader’s Walk (FTTL&MW) will be held at RAF Cosford over the weekend 19-20 March 2016, with the 35thAnnual RAF 2-Day March also held at RAF Cosford over the weekend 23-24 April 2016. The aim of the weekend is to allow team leaders to experience the 2 Day March routes without their teams and to provide an opportunity for a series of briefings from experienced marchers on the range of duties likely to be encountered. The FTTLW also provides excellent training value for those team leaders leading teams for the first time at Nijmegen in 2016.The purpose of the Marshal’s Walk is to enable RAFWARMA Members, who will be on marshalling duty at the RAF 2-Day March, to check and complete the same routes as used at the RAF 2-Day March and therefore qualify for the annual award.
  2. Participation. This event is open to RAF WARMA members employed on marshalling duties and military first time team leaders ONLY. (Deputies will be accepted subject to availability, up to a maximum of two per unit). The event is not designed to be used as a Nijmegen qualifier for teams. RAFWARMA members aiming to qualify for the British Military Contingent (BMC) at Nijmegen 2016 are to indicate this on the entry form and will of course have to carry the mandated 10 kg if their age is between the published parameters. Completed entry forms are to be sent, by email, by 19Feb2016 to:

  4. Event Start Times. The event will formally start at 0730 each day from the Main Guardroom. Personnel choosing to start before that time will not be on duty. You should be finished by 1630 hrs each day. Participants are to be available for the completion of both marching daysover the weekend.

Messing & Charges will be £30.00 regardless of status for all participants. Breakfast, packed lunch and an evening meal will be provided on both marching days only. The RAF 2-Day March medal will be awarded to RAFWARMA Members completing the event for the first, fifth and tenth time; an appropriately numbered pin will be awarded for second third, sixth etc. Medals will be presented at the RAF 2-Day March.
