Job Title Community and Events Development Manager

Hours 37.5 to include evening and weekend work in order to meet the

business need of the role

Reporting to Director of Income Generation

Overall aim of the role

Working with the Director of Income, develop a strategy to deliver, implement and grow new and sustainable Community and Events fundraising income streams in order to meet and exceed fundraising targets.

Deliver exceptional donor care and communications to supporters reflecting the sensitive nature of the work of Cransley Hospice.

Key responsibilities of the post

The potholder will be responsible for:

  • Identifyingand developing new and existing fundraising opportunities within the geographical area of Cransley Hospice Trust
  • Achievingand exceeding agreed fundraising targets whilst adhering to expenditure budgets and therefore deliver a strong return on investment
  • Working with a prospecting income pipeline, ensure accurate and timely financial forecasting, identifying any risk to projected income and mitigating accordingly
  • Developing a portfolio of fundraising that includesthe promotion of mass participation events
  • Delivering agreed sign up ratesfor events
  • Devising, initiating and managing fundraising events ensuring that there is an approved plan in place for the event
  • Preparing individual event budgets, setting targets, producing materials, risk assessment of the venue/event, recruiting and managing volunteers.
  • Marketing and PR management
  • Managing events on the day, including responsibility for compliance with statutory regulations with regards to licences, safety and hygiene.
  • Developing a programme of community and events fundraising activity to increase support and income, and to service fundraising activities by groups, and individuals in the communitywho are raising money on our behalf.
  • Researching, identifying and developing a network of contacts and key supporters within the area who will support fundraising events/activities
  • Having an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of and to adhere to, current Charity Law, Institute of Fundraising guidelines and best practices.
  • Promoting awareness and support of Cransley Hospice Trust and to act as an ambassador to help build the brand of Cransley Hospice Trust by delivering a clear and compelling case for support
  • Developing strong links with the local media to maximise opportunities and promote the work of Cransley Hospice Trust
  • Producing press releases and social media content to ensure that public relations and communication enhance the fundraising objectives of Cransley Hospice Trust
  • Evaluating the marketing, publicity and fundraising initiatives and ensure the development, planning and delivery of future activities are built on the findings
  • Contributing to the Hospice newsletter and social media activity by generating articles and content
  • The role of volunteers is integral to the work of Cransley Hospice Trust and paid staff are required to underpin this in their attitude and actions

Health and Safety

  • Ensure risk assessments are carried out for all organised events and relevant risk mitigation actions implemented where appropriate

Education

  • The post holder will be educated to degree level or hold a relevant equivalent qualification
  • A member of the IOF

Additional Responsibilities

  • To carry out any other duties as requested by the Director of Income Generation
  • There is a requirement to comply with all of the Hospice policies, procedures and guidelines, including those relating to Health and Safety, Confidentiality and the Data Protection Act

Additional Information

  • The post holder is required to work evenings and weekends to meet business need and will receive TOIL (time off in lieu) as agreed with the Director of Income Generation
