Westin Nova Scotian Announces High Definition

HALIFAX, NS –Westin Nova Scotian Announces High Definition

The Westin Nova Scotian is pleased to announce that High Definition television is now available on twenty two channels in all 310 guestrooms and in EVE Lounge.

High-definition television (HD) refers to video having resolution substantially higher than traditional television systems. It offers viewers the sharpest television picture available with unparalleled picture clarity and rich, vibrant colours via HD 1080i technology, along with exceptional sound via the true cinematic experience of Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound.

HD has become common in residential settings, but is generally considered cost prohibitive in high demand areas such as hotels and resorts. Through partnerships with Eastlinkand LodgeNet Interactive (Canada) Corp, The Westin is able to completely outfit its inventory with High Definition, offering the only wired HD hotel service in the downtown area.

“Our customers have been requesting higher quality resolution throughout the hotel, to accent our standard 32” LCD televisions”, says Guido Kerpel, Regional Vice President of New Castle Hotels. “We are pleased to compliment our guestroom offer to include the best experience available”.

“We are delighted to partner with the Westin as they improve the guest experience with EastLink’s first HD hospitality offering in Halifax”, said Jeff Gillham, Vice President of Business Sales, EastLink.

Deep in the heart of downtown Halifax, the AAA Four Diamond Westin Nova Scotian, owned and operated by New Castle Hotels & Resorts, offers first-class accommodations in elegant and historic surroundings. With 310 well-appointed guest rooms and a great location, guests are provided with a complimentary shuttle service for fabulous downtown shopping, exciting nightlife, historic attractions, and numerous restaurants.
