; (651)-439-5581 ext. 324

Course Overview: During the course of the year we will examine the history of the Church from the Ascension of Christ into heaven until the present day. We will cover major events in the Church’s history and highlight key people who have had major influences on the life of the Church. We will also review the seven sacraments and their role in the life of the Church.

General Guidelines:

Grading:These categories will comprise your religion grade:

Homework/Classwork:This includes neatly and thoughtfully completing assignments in class or those assigned for homework, preparatory readings for class discussions, and semester book reports. Assignments need to be typed or written neatly in cursive.

Quizzes:Short quizzes will be given weekly on Thursday. A study guide will go home every Thursday to highlight the material that will be covered that week and to aid in studying for the weekly quiz.

Participation: This is an inclusive category reflecting on attitude, taking part in class discussions, willingness to ask and answer questions, being on time, coming prepared, and showing respect for others.

Extra Credit: You may gain up to ten points per semester in extra credit. This may come from extra credit questions on a quiz, adding relevant pictures or descriptions to the class timeline, or other opportunities that arise throughout the year.

Assignments and due dates are given orally, written on the white board, and will be posted on my website. All grades can be found on PowerSchool as soon as I have graded them.

When returning from an absence, it is your responsibility to find out what you have missed and to complete it. Please check the absent student drawer at the beginning of class on the day you return to find out your assignments.

Following the middle school guidelines, if an assignment is one day late it will receive a 25% deduction; two days late a 50% deduction.

Materials: In order to be prepared for class you must bring your religion book, notebook, folder, pen, any assignments due that day, and a highlighter.

I look forward to a great year together. Please do not hesitate to ask questions if something is not clear.
