Much interest has been shown in this venture, and it seems that there will be far too many qualifiers to have time or space to hold the Final at the IPS Championship Show.
As all entry fees at qualifiers go to the organisers, we are looking for a sponsor to help us to host the Final, any suggestions welcomed.
Ponies may qualify for the final by being placed 1st or 2nd in any recognised Combined Training League or event. The Final will be heldon a week-day during the Summer School Holidays, (date and venue to be decided). If there is more than one leg at a league, e.g. Raheen-na-gun, each day will be a qualifier, and should the first two placed ponies have already qualified the 3rd placed pony may do so.
- Riders at the Final must be members of the Irish Pony Society
- The age of rider will be adhered to at the final, but qualifiers may be run under the specifications of the organisers of each event.
- There will be set dressage test for the final, but any recognised test used at a qualifier is acceptable.
- The same combination of pony and rider may compete at one height only.
- A class, or classes, may be held for 4 and 5yr old ponies if required.
At present the qualifiers will be the Raheen-na-Gun League starting on 28th January and the under 12 Combined Training class held by the Sports Pony Challenge Committee at their qualifiers. Wexford Equestrian is also holding qualifiers. Combined Training classesheld at any recognised venue can be qualifiers if the organisers email details to . Interest has been expressed to for CT held at Boswell’s, Killossery, Coiloge to be qualifiers and the IPS Cork Area and Western Area hope to also run classes.
The purpose of this competition is to encourage younger riders and those who may feel that neither their ponies nor themselves are ready to compete in the Sports Pony Challenge. The same combination of rider and pony competing in the Sports Pony Challenge or the IPS Tom Robinson Gold Cup will not be eligible to compete in the Combined Training Final.
