Massachusetts Middle School Forensic League

December 18, 2016

Dear Colleague:

We hope you’ll join us for our MSSL Happy New Year’s NoviceSpeech Tournament to be held Sunday, January 8, 2016!

Competition is open to students in grades 6 through 8, who may each enter one event.—TEAMS MAY BRING UP TO TWENTY-FIVE ENTRIES. Teams must provide at least one judge per four entries.

There will be three straight rounds of competition with one judge in each section. There is a final round for the top 8 competitors from each category. Medals and honorable mentionswill be awarded. Entry fees for this contest are $7 per student entry, $14 per duo.

The day will begin with an information session for judges. All of your judges are expected to attend, even if they are experienced high school students or adults serving in this capacity. We all want to be sure that our judges are truly “on the same page.”

Enclosed, you will find a tentative schedule for the day. Students should bring their own lunches. Please note: NBS is a peanut-free school. Please feel free to email and/or call with questions or concerns.

I look forward to hearing from you no later than Wednesday, January 4th and to seeing you and your students on January 10th!

Sincerely,

Alex Helm
