This month, the Parental Means Test, information for overseas travel, Child Care Rebate payments and some great causes that I’ll be supporting.

G’day, I’m Hank Jongen, General Manager, Department of Human Services here to tell you what’s happening with the department in November.

If you’re a dependent student receiving Youth Allowance or ABSTUDY Living Allowance–now’s the time for your parents or guardians to update their financial details with Centrelink.

Each year we use the Parental Means Test to make sure we’re paying you at the right rate.

We sent you a letter about this update and it’s really important the means test is completed online so your student payments don’t stop.

If you’ve elected to receive your Child Care Rebate payments quarterly, you’ll either have already received your first payment for this financial year, or it will arrive early this month.

This happens automatically, so you don’t need to do anything. If you’d like to check if your payment’s been issued or confirm your bank account details are correct, you can do this online.

Just log on to your Centrelink online account through myGov or by using the Express PlusCentrelink mobile app.

The holiday season is almost here and if you’re planning overseas travel it’s a good idea to check in with us and see if those plans could affect your payment.

You can also do this with your Centrelink online account, however, if your circumstances are more complex, you might wish to phone or visit us so we can talk about your plans in more detail.

If you are travelling overseas these holidays, and taking medicines purchased under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, you need to know it’s illegal to take or send these medicines out of Australia if they’re not for your personal use, or the use of someone travelling with you.

And remember, it’s always a good idea to register your travel details with Smartraveller.

Other things worth noting this month include White Ribbon day,and of course Movember. You can follow me on Facebook to find out more about how we’ll be supporting these causes and, as a sneak peak, here’s a throwback to me and my mo… back when it was really cool!

Thanks for watching. More information about everything I’ve mentioned can be found on our website, or you can like or follow us on social media and subscribe to our channel to keep up to date.

I’ll see you next month, bye for now.
