Homework - To be handed in on Friday 23rd March

Science Week

Last week we marked science week with some fun experiments carried out with our paired class, P2. Balloon Rockets and Spreading Skittles were seen across the school and you can see some photos and videos on our Glow class page. Press the word PHOTOS to be taken to the files. Look and see how our balloon rocket race along the corridor went!

Parent Evenings

Term 3 reports are now uploaded on to E profiles on Glow. Please have a look at them and add a comment in the box at the bottom as a little feedback for your child. Also, take a look at the self-assessment section that was filled in at school and try to leave a little comment there too. An explanation of the format of reports and suggestions for feedback is on the “About your child’s reports” section. I look forward to seeing those of you who requested appointments on Wednesday and Thursday.

Book Fair

The Book Fair is in school this week and books will be on sale at both parent evenings on Wednesday and Thursday.

Victorian Invention Talk

We will start listening to all of the Victorian Invention talks this week. I look forward to hearing them and learning about all of your inventions. Please make sure that you are totally ready for your presentation. I have already had 5 people (quarter of our whole class) who have not taken their talks in today. I know that the talks will not all be heard in one day but everyone was told to have them here and to be ready to present at any time. Please have your talks here tomorrow.

Sport Relief

Sport Relief is on Friday 23rd March. As we have had quite a lot of things going on in school recently we are not making such a big event of this and so we are just going to “Dress in Sporty Clothes” and ask for a donation to the cause on Friday.

Technology Challenge

We have a technology challenge next Wednesday 28th March. Please bring in junk for your group to use. This time you will need boxes (no bigger than a shoe box or cereal box) and things to decorate your design to “make it fancy”. More information to come later!

This is the last week of homework this term. (I know, you’re disappointed!) Please hand in your jotters on Friday so that they are all in school ready for next term.

Maths

I am giving some subtraction sums this week. It is clear from some of the work being done recently that some people need extra practice with these type of sums. Please do the sums on the sheet and show ALL workings. Remember, it is always the top digit take away the bottom. If you can’t do this then you need to exchange from the next column.

Spellings

There were some super suggestions for spelling games from homework last week. We are going to test out the suggestions this week with our words and vote for the best ones.

Spellings this week will focus on the spelling rule for doubling letters. Please learn your words for Friday.

Inventor Task

Since we have been looking at Victorian inventions I would like you to create an invention that you would like to have nowadays. Draw a diagram with labels explaining what the different parts of your invention are and what it does. You can be as creative as you like but try to make a detailed diagram, well drawn and coloured. We did talk about this last week so come on P6, GET INVENTING!
