Elements and performance criteria

Element 1

Install poles for yards.

Performance criteria

1.1Pole positions are marked out in accordance with the yard plan.

Rangeone of – peg, paint.

1.2Poles are laid out in accordance with the planned sequence of installation and without risk of injury to self or other people.

1.3A hole for the pole is opened manually, at a depth consistent with the size of pole, without risk of injury to self or other people.

Rangeone of – bore, dig.

1.4Pole is positioned and braced in the hole in accordance with intended use, and the yard plan.

1.5The pole is firmly secured in the hole.

Rangeone of – earth compaction, cement.

Element 2

Install and nail rails for yards.

Performance criteria

2.1Rails are installed in accordance with the plan with consistent spacings throughout the entire length of the yard.

2.2Rail joins are on alternate posts where possible, butted neatly or mitred, to maximise strength.

2.3Rails are fixed with galvanised nails at each post and joined with nails skewed in opposing directions as near to edge as is practical.
