POSTCENTRE ASSISTANT (6 months duration)

PROJECT HACKNEY MIGRANT CENTRE

ACCOUNTABLE TO HACKNEY MIGRANT CENTRE MANAGER

SALARY £9.40 per hour(£17,108 pro rata)

HOURS7 hours per week (ideally Monday)

This is a new post created as a result of increased capacity at the Hackney Migrant Centre. The post holder will provide support to the manager at Hackney Migrant Centre (HMC).

HMCarelooking to recruit an enthusiastic person to help run our office one day a week. Duties will include office management, collating information, fundraising and other tasks necessary to ensure the smooth day to day of HMC.

DUTIES AND ACTIVITIES OF THE POST

  1. Core duties

i)To provide management support to the Centre Manager;

ii)To assist with data entry and finance administration work;

iii)To assist with the researching and writing of grant applications;

iv)To assist incollecting information, statistics and case studies on the work being done at Hackney Migrant Centre for the purposes of improving service quality, to meet the requirements of funders, and to assist relevant policy/strategic legal work;

v)To supplyHMC’s drop-in and the office with necessary stationery and equipment;

vi)To assist in the production of reports, leaflets and other HMC literature;

vii)To assist with administrative tasks relevant to the post.

  1. Other Duties:

i)To assist and support volunteers and interns as required;

ii)To assist with the organisation of public information sessions for visitors, volunteers and the wider public and to take part in these events;

iii)To participate actively in staff meetings, and other meetings as may reasonably be required;

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Experience

/ E - Proven ability to work in a team in a stressful and pressurised environment
D- Experience of preparing and writing fundraising applications
D - Experience of maintaining effective working relationships with a wide range of agencies
D - Experience of recording and reporting outcomes to funders.

Knowledge/ Technical Skills

/ E - Knowledge of other refugee, migrant, homelessness and appropriate relevant organisations
E - Ability to keep accurate records of activities
E - IT literate. Experience of using email, word processing and spread sheet packages, access databases.
D - Experience of recording and reporting outcomes to funders.
D -Familiarity with basic bookkeeping and financial packages e.g. Quickbooks
D - Knowledge of the day to day working of the Hackney Migrant Centre

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

POST: Centre Assistant

Salary:£17,108 pro rata (£3,421.60 per annum)plus 8% pension

Contract: Six month contract

Working Week: 7hours –ideally Monday.

Annual Leave: 5 weeks per annum pro rata.

Probation: 3 months.
