Dear Parents,
As part of the Design and Technology National Curriculum all children are required to learn skills in food technology. These focus on the need for a healthy and balanced diet, selection and combination of fresh ingredients to prepare a delicious healthy meal and the use of kitchen equipment.
On Friday 24th November Years 5 and 6 will make Spinach and Ricotta Cannelloni in school. Years 3 and 4 will make Bread and Butter Pudding on Friday 1st December. During the lesson, children will learn about healthy diets and will learn to safely use knives, graters and other equipment to prepare a fresh meal that can be enjoyed by your family at home that evening. If your child has any allergies to food please provide details on the slip below so any adjustments can be made.
The children’s learning will be completed at home with your support as the freshly-prepared meal will need to be cooked in an oven. Your child will be told the correct timings and temperature to use on the day.
To ensure we can meet the needs of the curriculum the cost per child is £3.00per session. This cost covers the expert tuition from ‘Kiddy Cook’, all ingredients for a full meal and a disposable food container to transport the dish in. We have worked with the company to keep the cost to a minimum and believe it represents excellent value for the learning experience and the end result the children will achieve.
Thanks in advance for your support and we look forward to another successful year of delicious Food Technology.
