Terms and Conditions

Below is a general outline of the Terms and Conditions for this post. Full terms and conditions would be included following any offer of employment.

6 months’ probationary period with a formal appraisal in the sixth month.

Salary

£9,925 pro-rata per annum from FTE of £24.814 per annum.

2 days 14.4 hours per week.Working days areThursday and Friday

Inductions

Please note that the successful candidate, as part of Place2Be induction, will be required to attend a compulsory four-day Staff Inductions programme in London during the monthsSeptember 2013

Annual Leave

A full time equivalent allowance is 25 days per annum plus bank holidays. The pro-rated allowance will be calculated once the candidate is appointed and the start date is known.

Annual leave has to be taken during school break times only. Please note that employees with more than 3 years of service are eligible to 27 days of annual leave pro rata and those with over 5 years of service are eligible to 30 days of annual leave pro rata.

Pension

Employees are eligible to join Place2Be pension scheme after three full months of service. The Place2Be contributes 3% of your salary into the scheme; employees may contribute as from 3% of their salary per financial year. A free session is available with our financial advisers to help plan your pension needs.

Childcare Vouchers

We run an approved childcare voucher scheme which offers income tax and National Insurance contribution savings when paying for child care.

Cycle Scheme/Season Ticket Loans

We offer interest-free loans for buying a season ticket or purchasing a bicycle to assist our staff with reducing the cost of travelling to work.

Eye Care Vouchers

We provide eye care vouchers entitling you to a free annual eye test. This scheme fulfils our legal obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act for staff using Display Screen Equipment. If staff require glasses because of their use of a DSE then an additional voucher pays for a basic pair of glasses.

Training and Development

Place2Be offers a central development programme for all staff and provide a range of training opportunities as part of employee’s individual personal development plan.

Asylum and Immigration Act 1996 – section 8

Job Description

Job Title:School Project Manager

Reporting to:Cluster Manager

The School Project Manager’s main areas of responsibility and objectives are:

  • To manage Place2Be within the school and play a key role in delivering Place2Be mission to enable therapeutic and emotional support to be provided to children in schools.

Responsible for:

The management and delivery of Place2Be services, supervision of Volunteer Counsellors and control of budgets as agreed

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Relationship with Head and Staff of the School
  • To ensure the safeguarding and promote the welfare of children in the school
  • To manage the induction process when the project is first introduced to the school where appropriate
  • To build and maintain good working relationships with the Head and staff in the school.
  • To liaise with staff on referrals

Clinical Work

  • To assess and allocate children to provision and allocate a Place2Be Volunteer Counsellor to children
  • To work closely with parents/carers in the delivery of the service to the children
  • To co-ordinate and run a ‘self-referral’ service for children (The Place2Talk)
  • To co-ordinate and run group work for selected children, where appropriate

Management and Development

  • To ensure compliance with regulatory and Place2Be’s policies and procedures with particular regard to Child Protection and Health & Safety
  • To ensure the appropriate behaviour, conduct of Volunteer Counsellors and their provision of quality care through regular supervision usually weekly, or as appropriate, sessions of paired supervision for each Place2Be counsellor
  • To participate and contribute in staff and volunteer recruitment and training programmes as required
  • To oversee the complete caseload of each counsellor

Service management

  • To meet regularly with the Cluster Manager and other School Project Managers regarding the management of the project
  • To attend and participate in regular meetings with Place2Be management team and provide regular reports to line managers on the activity of the school project
  • To maintain records in keeping with Place2Be’s Quality Assurance Policy
  • To ensure that all casework records are kept confidentially
  • To manage and keep accurate records of Place2Be’s resources at the school

General

  • To contribute to the development of policy and practice of the service as required within Place2Be
  • To promote equal opportunities and an open approach in all areas of work bearing in mind the need to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • In conjunction with the Hub Manager, undertake an annual formal review of the service delivery within Place2Be in the school and produce a review report

Flexibility

The job description is a general outline of the job duties and responsibilities and may be amended as Place2Be develops and the role grows. The post holder may be required to undertake other duties as may be reasonably required from time to time.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

SCHOOL PROJECT MANAGER

The person specification outlines the main criteria for the post and short-listing will be based on the following criteria. Please ensure that your supporting statement clearly shows how you meet the criteria using experience gained either in paid or voluntary work.

CRITERIA
Accreditation to a professional body.
A recognised qualification in counselling or therapy.
2-3 years post qualifying experience as a practising therapist or counsellor.
Demonstrates own suitability to work with children and an understanding of working with children in need, including children in need of emotional and therapeutic support.
Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the various therapeutic disciplines.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently build and maintain relationships with external bodies.
Experience of the school environment and the ability to analyse situations and systems within schools.
Ability to manage referrals and maintain an accurate confidential system of records
