Arkansas Library Leadership Institute
The Institute is a 3-day leadership event for library staff, created and implemented by the Arkansas State Library to develop leaders within the library profession (from new staff to seasoned professionals), the local community, and in life. The selection committee is seeking a diverse set of applicants based on type of library, organizational responsibility, and geography.
You do not need to have a Masters of Library Science degree to participate in this program.
The facilitators for the 2018 Institute will be Kieran Hixon and Dr. Sharon Morris of the Colorado State Library. The topics, activities and content will be directed at those working in libraries with a variety of backgrounds, interests, and abilities. Sessions will explore leadership basics, behaviors and styles.
Participants can expect to gain:
- Greater understanding of personal strengths and values, as well as plans for implementing these from a positive orientation
- Clear grasp of various leadership strategies and when to use them
- New skills in team leadership including
- Building team consensus that leads to innovation
- Influencing team dynamics for effective work
- Coordinating efforts for accountability and effectiveness
Selected applicants will be responsible for a fee of $300.00. Please do not include any payment with your application. Financial arrangement paperwork will be sent out to those selected to participate.
The Arkansas Library Leadership Institute will be held at the beautiful DeGray Lake Resort State Park.
