Position: Community Support Worker - Barista

Hours: 30 hours per fortnight

Reports to: Service Manager

Direct Reports: Volunteers

Tenure: Permanent position dependent on continued program funding

Salary: Hospitality Industry (General) Award 2010

Purpose of Position:

●  Support the delivery of the YSUp (Young and Skilled Up) program for the Hills Daily Grind.

●  Provide information and referrals to customers of the Hills Daily Grind.

●  Ensure staff and volunteers deliver a professional coffee van at events.

●  Network with the community to assist with future bookings for the Hills Daily Grind.

About the Hills Daily Grind

The Hills Daily Grind is a unique coffee van that:

●  Provides Barista training to students and youth who have barriers to employment.

●  Supports the homeless and people in need through our Kindness Cup program.

●  Supports local events across The Hills and Western Sydney.

●  Engages with the community to deliver information and referral.

About the Community Support Worker

We are looking for a vibrant Community Support Worker to join the Hills Daily Grind team. The Community Support Worker role is an interesting and diverse role for a person who likes engaging with the community, providing a high level of customer service and supporting youth and volunteers.

Person Specification:

●  Relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated industry experience.

●  Demonstrated understanding of Community Development principles.

●  High level of written and verbal communication skills.

●  Sound computer literacy with experience in the Google suite of products.

●  Current NSW drivers license and ability to drive a manual vehicle.

●  Barista experience or willingness to learn.

●  Demonstrated ability to work as part of a small team.

●  Demonstrated ability to support youth and volunteers in a learning environment.

●  Sensitivity to differing ability, sexuality, class, cultural and religious backgrounds.

Position Duties General

●  Attend monthly team meetings and other organisational development days as required.

●  Adhere to agreed Policies and Procedures of Hills Community Aid.

●  Uphold the confidentiality of all clients, co-workers and Board of Governance in accordance with the organisation’s Policies and Procedures.

●  Attend training, conferences and workshops relevant to the position.

●  In conjunction with the Service Manager, develop and implement systems to enhance the provision of programs to clients.

●  Participate in and oversee any student placements.

●  Participate in the development and review of organisational Policies and Procedures.

●  Collect statistics on referrals to and from the programs.

●  Be an active team member, sharing responsibility, skills and information.

●  Ensure clean and safe work environment is maintained.

●  Carry out any other duties as required by the Executive Officer or Board of Governance.

Position Duties YSUp Delivery

●  Prepare learning materials for program delivery.

●  Prepare van and stock for delivery of YSUp.

●  Train program participants in a supported environment.

●  Maintain relationships with all networks.

●  Source future YSUp applicants.

Position Duties Community Events

●  Attend community events.

●  Maintain compliance of event attendance.

●  Maintain stock and ordering.

●  Prepare van for delivery of community events..

●  Prepare rosters for events.

●  Support volunteers to deliver a high standard of customer service.

●  Promote Hills Community Aid and Hills Daily Grind to all customers and services.
