1930S-Themed ‘lone star stomp’ set for april 16, 2016;

event chairs announced

Richmond – The Fort Bend County Museum Association is pleased to announce the 27th annual Lone Star Stomp! Set for Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the George Ranch Historical Park, the Lone Star Stomp is the biggest fundraising party of the year and includes music and dancing, live and silent auctions, a wine pull, whiskey-tasting station, great food and lots more.

After serving as a co-chair for the 2015 Lone Star Stomp, Billie Van Slyke has graciously agreed to chair the event this year.

“I’m so excited to chair the 2016 Lone Star Stomp benefiting the Fort Bend Museum,” Van Slyke said.“It’s very important to continue to educate our children about our rich history here in Fort Bend County, and also continue to spread the word to everyone about the significant role Fort Bend County played in Texas history.”

Also spearheading the event are co-chairs Dottie Allen, Robin Rosen, Diane Elko and Lynn Humphries.

The 2016 theme, “Texas’ Most Wanted,” comes from a little-known history fact that the infamous Bonnie and Clydeate a meal at the Eagle Café in Rosenberg shortly before they were killed. The Lone Star Stomp committee is looking forward to combining the historical party vibe of the 1930s with the classic Texas/western feel of the Lone Star Stomp.

“We’re planning the most exciting event to date,” Van Slyke said. “And I hope we’ll have a huge crowd to join in the fun!”

All proceeds from the Lone Star Stomp benefit the educational and community programs of the Fort Bend Museum. In 2014, the Fort Bend Museum presented educational programs to more than 5,100 school children from Fort Bend County and the surrounding areas. Additionally, more than 2,500 students from around the Houston metropolitan area took part in the Museum’s outreach program, the Texian Time Machine. The Fort Bend Museum is one of only 34 museums in the entire state of Texas to be accredited by the American Alliance of Museums.
