- 1st Day Camp is this Fri., Sept. 14
- Meet in Gammage parking lot 7:35 for car pool and free breakfast
- 4 groups of kids and 4 stations – we try to mix the counselors up according to experience
- We eat lunch w/the kids, too
- Dos and Don’ts review
- *Closed-toe shoes; no sandals
- *Future Talks – be positive about college and talk about both
formal and informal parts of the experience
- But talk about college whenever the opportunity presents itself, not just during future talks
- If kids are not taking it seriously, try to figure out a way to connect with them or turn their jokes into goals
- Forks Up!
- ASU symbol used at football games
- When anyone raises the pitchfork symbol and yells, “Forks up!”, everyone else puts up their pitchforks and stops talking
- Hugs
- We give each 5th grader a clothespin w/a smiley-face on it on a string and they add beads to the string at each station
- T-shirts
- Everyone needs to buy a CampSparky t-shirt so the kids know who we are on Fri.
- If you absolutely cannot get one by Friday, wear an ASU shirt to identify yourself
- If you don’t have an ASU shirt, wear a gray t-shirt
- Mock Camp!
- Only time/supplies for 2 stations
- Now is the time to see what works/does not work, so if you have comments/suggestions, let us know
- After CampDinner
- The Location will be in the e-mail on Wed.
- Even if you can’t come to the camp, you should come to dinner
