Immaculata University – Bachelor of Arts in Emergency Planning and Management

As a program within the ACCEL® curriculum and IU Online program formats, the Emergency Planning and Management (EPM) degree completion program is designed to meet the needs of working adults who want to earn an undergraduate degree while continuing to work full-time. The program provides a sequential and progressive series of courses taught in a facilitated approach within a cohort learning community. The program options allow learners to attend in either of the following formats:

  • accelerated face to face classes, meeting once a week for five to seven weeks and including some online components

OR

  • accelerated (seven week) fully online courses

Program Description:

The EPM program seeks to produce students who can:

  • Understand and analyze the rapidly changing face of emergency management
  • Use problem-solving techniques in response to crises and in conjunction with Incident Command Structure (ICS) and National Incident Management Structure (NIMS) processes
  • Know the various federal, state and local regulatory issues that impact emergency preparedness and response
  • Research the impact of changes in safety management and policy
  • Employ leadership, management and negotiation skills needed for dealing with constituencies in public safety
