WHAT IS A 200 CLUB?
- It will be (as it has been in the past) an important fund raiser for the Club but with a difference --- for a small, regular (i.e. Standing Order) contribution a limited number of Members participate in regular drawsfor significant cash prizesandone annual bumper Accumulated Cash prize.
- 200 (it could be 50,100 or any figure) refers to the maximum number of Draw Lots available in every draw. Compared to a traditional draw the chances of winning are much better with a 200 Club membership (1 in 200 in every draw and there will be 61 draws per year)
- Regular contributions enable the Accumulated bumper prize to be very significant relative the individual draw prizes
- Anselmians have had a 200 Club since 1970. In the past (pre 1990), it was a major source of income for the Club. As inflation has eroded the value of the contribution level (£1/month and unchanged since 1970) and membership has declined (often due to death of members), the current 200 Club generates little income for the Club compared to other sources. Inflation has equally devalued the prize monies so that they could not be defined as “significant” in 2009.
With the need to fund the re-development of the Clubhouse, the 200 Club needs to be re-launched/updated.
- Anselmians 200 Club will be re-launched in Jan 2010 (1st monthly Draws --- for which Standing Order only payment must be made in December)
- There will be:
- 60 Draws (5/month) for £100 (assuming 200 members)
- 1 Draw for £6,000 (assuming 200 members)
- Multiple purchase of Draw Lots is permitted
- Every Draw Lot has an equal chance in every Draw
- Contributions are divided equally between Prize Monies and The Clubhouse Re-development Fund. If membership is less than 200 there will be a pro-rata reduction in both Prize Money and Contribution to the Club.
- Prize money is divided equally between 60 Monthly Draws and 1 Accumulated Draw.
- To qualify for the Accumulated Draw Prize members must have made a minimum of 6 monthly payments (including the month in which the Accumulated Draw takes place)
- The regular contribution will be:
- the equivalent of 1 pint of beer a week
- Paid in the form of a £10/month Standing Order only.
- All monthly Draws (5 Draws of £100 each, assuming a membership of 200) will take place in the Clubhouse on the last Saturday/Sunday (2:1) of the month in the Rugby season to cover both Senior and Junior sections and at the AGM/Dinner/Training Nights out of season
- The annual Accumulated Draw(1 Draw of £6,000 --- assuming 200 members) will take place on the last Saturday before Xmas
- All winners will be notified personally by post
- Results will be:
- Posted on the Club Notice Boards
- Posted on the Club Website
