The following placement opportunities have arisen locally. Depending on interest the process will be competitive.

Drinks Create
Small drinks innovation company based at New Milton (about 15 minutes walk from station). The work will be based in the lab working directly for the product development manager. Good maths skills and attention to detail are required as well as an interest in science. You will be undertaking a range of laboratory based techniques to assist the product development process including pH measurement, titrations, brix (sugar content) as well as assisting the product development process. Good record keeping will be essential.

BH live
BH Live run a number of sports centres across Bournemouth. You will probably be based at the gym at the Littledown Centre (opposite Royal Bournemouth Hospital). You will be working independently and on your own to run one to one healthy eating support sessions. You will be responsible for advertising your services, arranging an initial appointment to meet the client and understand what they would like to learn, arranging for them to undertake food diaries, analysing the food diary in line with UK government healthy eating guidelines, arranging a second follow up appointment. Fusion building catering with Chartwells at Talbot campus
Chartwells are the on campus catering providing at BU. They are keen to have a nutrition student working with the BU sandwich student who is studying marketing to undertake some health promotion events in early summer. This placement is likely to be in June.
Sean Burgess Fitness
Based at Broadstone but run Boot camps in local area. Sean is keen for students to do some of the following:
- Conducting client interviews to help build personalised nutrition plans (daily).
- Help the company review the accuracy ofour current nutrition resources and workingmethods.
- Help usput together effective nutritionresources to pass onto clients for a variety of training goals.
- Assisting with our ongoing nutrition research into current industry trends and potentially work with us onputting togetherthestructurefor afuturerecipe book.
- Potentially meet local food establishments with us to help establish further business links.
Diverse Abilities
This placement will be based at Barnabas House in Poole. They are currently offering 2 placements aeach for 20 days in summer. Dates are to be confirmed but they would like you for 2 days a week. One day will be a Tuesday when you will be working with the service users to cook healthy meals from a range of products supplied to the centre on Monday. One other day of the week possibly to do gardening at their allotments at Kingston Lacey. This is to be confirmed depending on their activities timetable.

Leonard Cheshire Homes
This placement will be based at James Burns House. You will be undertaking a range of food based activities with service users to encourage healthy eating as well as assisting at mealtimes.

Catering department, Alderney hospital (TBC)
The catering team are currently reviewing all their menus. Many of the recipes need to be nutritionally analysed to help display information for patients, visitors and staff. You will be working with the chefs to understand the recipes and then inputting the data into the BU nutritional analysis software to get basic nutritional information.
