Parachute urges kids and teens to#CrossSAFE and stop injury in its tracks

<insert date> –Rail-related injury and fatalityamong kids and teens is a major concern.[Name of group/organization] is partnering with Parachute for the #CrossSAFE program, which takes place throughout 2017 and 2018, to create positive behaviour changes to reduce injury rates among kids and teens.

Parachute’s#CrossSAFE is a two-year public awareness campaign. [Name of group/organization] and Parachute are calling on all kids, teens, parents and caregivers to learn how to #CrossSAFE.

Some key facts:

  • Virtually all railway collisions and trespassing incidents are preventable
  • Today’s trains are extremely quiet and fast, and might not be heard through cell phones or headphones
  • Even under emergency braking, a train can take up to two kilometres to stop!
  • Trespassing on railway tracks, or in rail yards and tunnels, can lead to major fines, injury, or death
