Information for Patients of The Roseland Surgeries
Dr Black’s Retirement and associated changes
Some of you may be aware that Dr Black has decided to retire and is leaving us at the end of March this year. He has been looking after patients of the Roseland for over 30 years and we will miss him very much. We are sure that Mike will enjoy his ‘freedom’ and we are confident that you will join with us in wishing him all the very best for his retirement.
We are very pleased to let you know that from Monday 3rd April, we will be joined by Dr Mark Crouse, an experienced GP who will work alongside the remaining partners as a salaried doctor. Dr Crouse (pronounced ‘cruse’) will be working mostly at St Mawes and Portscatho Surgeries, though he will from time to time also be available at Tregony. He will be working two full days each week (Mondays and Tuesdays). Dr Hynds will continue to work full time; Dr Tubman is increasing her sessions to two full days (Tuesdays and Thursdays) and Dr Jacoby will remain on three full days (Monday, Wednesday and Friday).
This partnership change will alter the way patients access doctors at the Practice. Patients who were registered with Dr Black will be divided amongst the remaining partners geographically. This will be a paper-exercise only in order to share the patient numbers between the three partners. Patients will still be able to see the GP of their choosing, at whichever site they prefer, subject to their availability. For ongoing medical problems i.e. for those requiring more than one appointment, patients will be advised to continue to see one GP as this will help with continuity of care.
This more flexible approach will improve access and patient choice and is in line with the majority of other practices throughout the country.
Despite the increasing pressures we are facing, we need to ensure that we continue to provide a sustainable service for the residents of the Roseland. In order to achieve this, we need to consolidate some of our branch surgery sessions into the main surgery site. This means that we won’t be running sessions at St Mawes and Tregony branch surgeries on a Monday afternoon but in compensation, will offer later evening appointments at Portscatho on Mondays and on Tuesdays. All other branch surgery sessions will continue as before.
We hope that you will understand and support us in these changes as we desire to maintain a good service for everyone in these difficult financial times. We believe this enables us to deliver that for the Roseland.
