Job Definition
The Site Supervisor Apprentice 1 is responsible for the assistance in the construction and volunteer activities on any numbers of job sites. This may include all work from start to finish on one property, specialized phases of the construction process, or rehab and renovation work as needed.
Job Responsibilities
- Position requires the physical ability to perform all phases of residential construction.
- Ensures safe working environment.
- Conducts safety training for each volunteer crew.
- Prepares tools, materials and task lists for each workday.
- Supervises crew leaders, task leaders and volunteers.
- Receives training from Site Supervisor Journeyman & Lead Site Supervisor in house construction, volunteer management, and site safety.
- Maintains tools.
- Secures job site at the end of each work day.
- Ensures that finished product meets HFHPC quality standards and meets or exceeds Florida Building Code.
- Follows HfHPC standards for budgeting & on-time scheduling.
- Reports daily progress to Lead Site Supervisor.
- Works with Director of Construction & Procurement and Lead Site Supervisor to establish construction schedule and adjust as needed.
- Develop and prepare contingency plans for days of inclement weather and various sizes of work groups.
- Ability to drive a vehicle with dump trailer attached.
- Possess the capability of reading blueprints.
- Attends and participates in required HFHPC meetings.
- Assists in preparations for special events.
- Assists in preparations when Storm Action/Disaster Plan if implemented.
- Other duties as delegated.
Hours of Work
The full time Site Supervisor Apprentice 1works forty hours per week. Typical hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM Tuesday through Saturday, although flexibility is necessary for evening meetings, adequate preparation for crews of varying sizes and skill levels, and preparation for special events. Supervisors are required to work one Sunday a month to accommodate volunteers as well.
Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Threeyears’ experiencein residential construction, one year of supervisory experience
- Clear understanding of Habitat for Humanity’s mission
- Proven ability to train semi-skilled and unskilled volunteers
JOB REQUIREMENTS

- Education: High School Equivalent, Associates Degree preferred.
- Certification & Licensure Requirements: Must have valid driver’s license and maintain good driving record with reliable transportation.
- Pre-Requisite Requirements: Ability to pass Criminal Background check, Drug Screening and Sexual Offender Check.
- Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, donors, volunteers and the general public. Ability to speak English fluently and possess English written skills - Bi-lingual not required, definitely a plus.
- Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Computer/Equipment Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Calculator; Data based software. Typing skills of at least 45 wpm are required. The ability to perform internet research.
