Installing TaB for the first time
Preparation:
Download these files from the Xantic website:
- setupTaB2107.exe (
- pms_tab_explorer_20050816_usd.rar (
- pms_tab_explorer_20050816_aud.rar (
Procedure:
1)Start the installation through setupTaB2107.exe.
Please not that you should have the licinfo.ini file provided by Customer Service in the same folder as this file!
2) Download the latest pms_tab_explorer RAR filesor pms_tab_explorer_20050816_aud.rar to the directory C:\Program Files\Xantic\Traffic and Billing.V21\RAR. The exact file you need depends on whether the invoice for this TaB licence will be in US Dollars or Australian Dollars.
3)Start Traffic and Billing. Import the file chosen in 2) through the option File-Load. All batches of traffic you'll receive through e-mail should be imported in the same fashion.

Making and restoring a back-up
With the standard installation Traffic and Billing will be put in the directory 'C:\Program Files\Xantic\Traffic and Billing.V21'. The standard suggestion for backups is the subdirectory 'Backup' of the standard installation directory. With Traffic and Billing BackupRestore, choosing the option 'Backup' will backup the current data in the database 'TabNL.gdb' up to a directory of your choice; please use a descriptive name, preferably including the version number of the application (can be found in Help-About) and the current date.
Traffic and Billing BackupRestore will give an error about not being able to find the executable; this is nothing to worry about. If need be, the executable 'PTABNL.exe' can be copied to the same directory as you put the backup of the database in.
To restore a database, choose the option 'Restore' in Traffic and Billing BackupRestore. When asked for the directory to restore from, choose the one your backup is available in.
Upgrading on the same PC from a previous version 2.1.0.X
With the introduction of version 2.1.0.7, a small change had to be made to the TaB database. To see which version of TaB you are running, please got to the [help] [about] screen in your TaB application.
Preparation:
Download these files from the Xantic website:
- upgTaB2107.rar (
- updateTaB2107.exe (
Procedure:
1)Make a backup of the current database for rollback purposes and store it in a safe place. Take note of the version you are currently running and if possible, store the installation media of that version (or the executable) in a safe place too.
Note: If the original media are no longer available, we can provide a set-up executable in case of a roll-back (down to version 2.1.0.0, previous versions are no longer supported).
Put the file upgTaB2107.rar in the directory C:\Program Files\Xantic\Traffic and Billing.V21\RAR.
2)Start Traffic and Billing and import the file upgTaB2107.rar through the option File-Load.
3)Make a backup of the resulting database [see: Making and restoring a backup] and store it in a safe place as well.
4)Start updating the application itself through updateTaB2107.exe.
To test whether everything went according to plan, start the application; there should be no errors on startup. In the unlikely event you DO get errors please inform Customer Service () ASAP, especially if the installation media of the previous version are no longer available
Migrating to a new PC from a previous version 2.1.0.X
Preparation:
Download these files from the Xantic website:
- upgTaB2107.rar (
- setupTaB2107.exe (
Procedure:
1)Make a backup of the current database for rollback purposes [see: Making and restoring a backup] and store it in a safe place. Take note of the version you are currently running and if possible, store the installation media of that version in a safe place as well.
Note: If the original media are no longer available, we can provide a set-up executable in case of a roll-back (down to version 2.1.0.0, previous versions are no longer supported).
2)Put the file upgTaB2107.rar in the directory C:\Program Files\Xantic\Traffic and Billing.V21\RAR.
3)Start Traffic and Billing and import the file upgTaB2107.rar through the option File-Load.
4)Make a backup of the resulting database for migratory purposes [see: Making and restoring a backup] and store it in a safe place as well.
5)Start the installation on the new PC through the file setupTaB2107.exe.
6)Note: the Licinfo.ini file originally provided by Customer Service should reside in the same directory as this file!
7)Restore the database made for migratory purposes [see: Making and restoring a backup].
Rollback
In case the upgrade to version 2.1.0.7 didn't work out, this procedure should return the application to a functioning state.
Procedure:
1)Remove Traffic and Billing through the uninstall option in its Program Group.
2)Install the previous version from the original installation media (or the replacement provided by Xantic Customer Support) and upgrade it to version you were using prior to upgrading.
3)Restore the database made for rollback purposes [see: Making and restoring a backup].
