Ultramid®gets refrigerator door into proper swing
Successful application of durable and high-performance Ultramid® polyamide in refrigerator door stops to prevent damage
Dhaka,Bangladesh – November 21, 2014 –BASF has successfully applied Ultramid® in refrigerator door stops that help prevent damage toadjacent walls, cabinets and the refrigerator door.
Located in the hinge system at the bottom of the refrigerator door, door stops control how far it can swing open. “We chose Ultramid® for this application as it is has better balance of mechanical properties compared to other commonly used materials, such as toughness and stiffness, resulting in a more durable and sustainable solution. Additionally the selected Ultramid has outstanding impact performance during the daily weather conditions in Bangladesh” said Mr. Akteruzzaman, Additional Director Plastic and Chemical R&D Department at Walton Hi-Tech Industries Ltd.
Ultramid® is noted for its high mechanical strength, stiffness and thermal stability. In addition, Ultramid® offers good toughness at low temperatures, favorable sliding friction behavior and can be processed without any problems. Owing to its excellent properties, this material has become indispensable in almost all sectors of engineering for a wide range of different components and machine elements.
“Consumer demand for products made of durable materials continues to increase. We combine our knowledge about these high-performance materials with a focus onnew markets and productsas well as technical and engineering competence in various segments.
