Acts of the Apostles 2:1-11: On Pentecost, the Holy Spirit was sent to the disciples in the form of fiery tongues. They began to speak in different tongues, “as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim.”
Psalm 104:1, 24, 29-30, 31, 34: “Lord send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth.”
1 Corinthians 12: 3b-7, 12-13: The apostle Paul wrote that there are many gifts but the same Spirit, different ministries but the same Lord.
John 20: 19-23: Jesus appeared and told the disciples, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you…Receive the Holy Spirit.”

~ FROM THE PASTOR'S DESK ~
Seventh Sunday of Easter
For forty days the Risen Lord had joined His disciples in various ways. He ate with them, spoke with them and shared time with them. Above all, He showed His love for them in spite of their doubts and their hardness of heart. He called them to a mountaintop, a backdrop where God had manifested Himself to His people. On this particular mountain, Jesus would teach His disciples to not be distracted or worried about matters other than preaching and witnessing to the Risen Lord. He promised to be with them and then He was lifted up before their eyes, but, with the promise that as He departed, He would return in the same way. As Jesus remained with His disciples, Jesus remains with us today and encourages and empowers us to be His faithful and fervent witnesses in the world today. Do not be distracted or worried about the things of the world. Be that disciple Jesus calls each of us to be so that where He has gone, we may follow Him one day.
Tomorrow, May 29th, Memorial Day is observed in the United States. This is a national holiday recalling the sacrifice of our military in service to our nation. Our annual Mass at Holy Rosary Cemetery on this day will be held at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow morning (weather permitting). In case of rain Mass will be celebrated at Holy Rosary Church.
I wish everyone a very Happy Memorial Day weekend. Enjoy all of the observances safely and responsibly. Let us also be mindful of our nation’s military who gave the supreme sacrifice of their lives in defense of our nation. In observance of this national holiday of Memorial Day the Parish Office will be closed. Regular office hours will resume on Tuesday, May 30th. There will be no Mass celebrated in the church on Tuesday morning.
Next Saturday, June 3rd, the Reverend Mister Paul Clark will be ordained to the Holy Priesthood at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Jefferson City. Remember the newly ordained in your prayers this Saturday, as well as this week as he prepares for priestly service for our diocese.
The scheduled Confessions for next Saturday have been cancelled. I will be available following the 5:30 p.m. Mass for individual Confessions

~ SPECIAL COLLECTION FOR FLOOD VICTIMS JUNE 11TH ~
A powerful storm system brought torrential rainfall and historic flooding to Missouri from Friday night, April 28 through Thursday, May 4, 2017. Areas of south central Missouri received from 10 to around 12 total inches of rainfall. This resulted in widespread and historic flooding. Numerous roads, bridges and buildings were destroyed. Many roads were flooded through the event including state highways and Interstate 44 and Interstate 55 in east central Missouri.
Catholic Charities of Central and Northern Missouri have been involved in initial relief efforts, including attendance at a Multi-Agency Resource Center in St. Robert on May 9th. Numerous households throughout the Diocese of Jefferson City have been impacted by these floods and will need both short and long-term assistance in their recovery efforts. In response to these needs a second collection for the weekend of June 10-11 has been approved, to provide emergency and longer-term assistance to those affected throughout our Diocese.
If donations are made by check, please make it out to your parish with “Flood Relief” in the memo field. All funds collected will be sent to Catholic Charities of Central and Northern Missouri. If you wish to send a contribution directly, please mark it with “Flood Relief” and send it to: Catholic Charities of Central and Northern Missouri, PO BOX 104626, Jefferson City, MO 65110. For more information, please contact Dan Lester at 573-635-7719 or
