Dear Riders,
We are pleased that you are joining us for our Annual Horse Trials Competition and we hope you have a great weekend!
There are a few housekeeping rules we need to mention. Please note these very carefully as they will affect YOU!
Important Notice
As a result of a PCAV meeting on Tuesday 14th April, riders please note the following changes to the rules:
If a rider now falls at an obstacle on the Cross Country they will not be permitted to remount and continue riding the course and will be eliminated.
This rule change is effective IMMEDIATELY.
- The show society has requested no hayband or horses to be tied to any trees.
- Please only use your allocated yard. Yard booking list can be seen below
- Cattle yards are not to be used.
- You need to bring your own frontage for your yards.
- Please follow parking attendants instructions. We ask that you limit your yard sizes to approx. 12 X 12m. Only floats & trucks will be permitted into grounds. Cars will not be permitted to park in the grounds and directed to park outside on Mt Battery Rd.
- Pre- booked camping pass can be collected at the secretary’s office and must be displayed on the vehicles dash. Any vehicle not displaying this pass will be asked to remove the vehicle from the grounds. Additional passes can be purchased at the secretaries office for $5 per vehicle per night.
- The lessors of the grounds have requested that those camping on the Friday night pay an additional $5 per vehicle. The Mansfield Pony Club are sorry for not providing prior notice of this. An attendant will be round to collect the fee on Friday night.
Chaff Bags – On arrival you will be provided with chaff bags to help us keep the club clean and disease free. Please place ALL your manure, hay, straw, etc. in the chaff bag provided. Please do not place any non-perishable rubbish in these bags
Dressage, show jumping and cross country times are attached. Your times are an indication only and the organising committee reserves the right to alter times at their discretion. Please listen for announcements as to any changes throughout the weekend.
Please gear check at least 20 minutes before your time to ride. You must gear check for all three phases. Please be prepared to ride earlier if there are scratchings in your class.
Please note that it is important that you have read the entry form rules and regulations. If you do not have a copy one can be found on the website There is also link to the Pony Club Dressage tests through the PCAV website.
Body numbers must be worn in all three phases, PCAV Gear Rules 10.1.3 (Feb 2009).
OPEN Riders who are numbered from 201 & above are required to BYO your own back holders. All other open riders are required to pay a $10 deposit on your back number, refundable upon return of your number to the secretaries office.
No Dogs or Pets – Dogs, Pets and non-competing horses are not permitted anywhere within the grounds.
Scratchings – Most classes are full so if you will not be coming please call on 57 905 197 OR 0427787490 as soon as possible.
If you have to scratch for medical or veterinary purposes even if it is on the morning of the competition please letus know as it makes the office and scoring run more smoothly. A vet certificate is required for all scratching in order for refunds to be paid.
Show Jumping Course Walks - We have timetabled course walks; please check the timetable and ensure thatyou take advantage of the most suitable course walk time for you.You are required to ride in number order for SJ & CC however, if you have more than one horse you can ride out of order so long as you inform the marshall before hand. Open will follow PC in all grades.
Cross Country Warm Up –You will not be permitted to enter this areauntil 10 minutes prior to your start time. Please adhere to the mashalls requests.
Saturday night dinner – There are NO MORE tickets available for the dinner function on Saturday night.Please note dinner tickets are to be collected from the Secretary’s office and will be allocated in envelopes as per how purchased on your entry form. Attached is a list as to ticket allocations. We anticipate starting to serve dinner between 6-6.30pm. Please listen for announcements as to the starting time. We hope to wrap the night up with a few fun questions for the kids and finish about 8.30-9.00.
Pony Club Cards - Any pony club member who does not present an accurate card will be disqualified.It is your responsibility to ensure that your membership card is accurate and presented to the organizing committee on the day. Note that DC’s may not alter or correct grading at the competition. If you are not sure abouthow a membership card must be completed, please read the Membership Cards Guidelines in the ‘publications, rules and regulations’ section of the PCAV web site If you have lost or damaged your PCAV card, you may present a fully completed verificationform to the competition committee in accordance with the PCAV Handbook of by-laws. The organising committee will notsupply verification forms. Verification forms may not be used as an attempt to over-ride membership cardinaccuracies.
Open Sections and Day Attendance – All riders competing in the Open Sections must
complete a day attendance form. If you did not send this form in with your entries then you must complete one BEFORE you will be permitted to ride. You can down load these forms from our web site at Day attendance provides you with Personal Liability insurance; it does not cover you for personal accidentinsurance.
Correct Gear - The following gear check table is provided as a guide, riders should check the Horse Trial andGear rule books. Riders in the Open sections are expected to ride in uniform, either their HRCAV or PCAVuniform or EFA horse trials attire.
Please read the following rules carefully:
Helmets and Medial Arm bands – Required at all times whilst mounted. Rider onus applies.
Cross-Country and Your Hair - when riding cross-country you are required to have your hair tied up so that itdoes not obscure any part of the back number. If a fence judge cannot read your back number, you are very likelyto be eliminated.
Presentations – riders in both Pony Club and Open classes must be present for presentations in uniform. 1st place getters in PC sections should bring their horse for presentation of their rug. Grade 1 in both PC & OPEN presentations will be mounted & occur at the completion of the Show Jumping in the SJ arena for all place getters.

GRADE 1 approx. 2.15-2.45 sunday
Ring 2: GRADE 5 8.30-9.00 Sunday
Cross Country course walks
The cross country will be open for walking after 2pm Saturday for all grades.
CROSS COUNTRY JUMP JUDGES
CROSS COUNTRY JUMP JUDGES are required to assemble at the Apex bar at 8.15am SHARP on Sunday for a cross country debrief and jump allocation. Any club that fails to send their representatives could result in the elimination of all riders from that club.
