1.  Opening and approval of draft agenda

Meeting commenced at 11:03M. The agenda was approved.

2.  Action Status

Outstanding Actions – # 142 -144

3.  Competitions

a.  World Telecom Information Society Day (WTISD): This competition should be revamped to be more ICT/Social Media friendly and incorporate the ITU theme.

Recommendation:

·  Students may use YouTube videos to create a short 5 minute film/presentation on the WTISD theme of “Broadband for Sustainable Development”.

·  Students can use creative social media to promote same.

Action 147a: Wendy McDonald to send competition information to the Secretariat.

Action 147b: Secretariat to create the new WTISD competition for submission

b.  i-Create

Ericsson will no longer sponsor the i-Create competition. The team is tasked with creating a competition along the lines of i-Create and seek new sponsors. Potential sponsorship may be available from Digicel Turks & Caicos for US$5,000.

Recommendations:

-  Source multiple sponsors

-  Keep the name of the competition

Action 148: The following members promised to contact potential sponsors and report back by February 15th.

4.  Marketing Forum for the Annual Conference

Recommendations:

·  To be launched at CANTO 2014

·  Theme should be ICT related and Broadband specific

·  Should include mini case studies

·  Effects of culture on different jurisdiction should be taken into consideration

·  Use lead Marketing person in the main ICT CANTO membership

·  Be innovative

·  Try to include ‘Investment marketing psychology’

·  Marketing in ICT – separating fact from fiction

Action 149: Tricia - create subcommittee to address curriculum and tutor

5.  CANTO Song

There were mixed reviews re changing of the CANTO song – to be discussed at the next meeting.

Recommendations:

·  Keep song as it is akin to a national anthem and hence should not be changed/altered

·  Remix song keeping the melody but modernizing

·  Create a clear 10 second hook

Action 150: Mary Meighan from BTL to provide an update on re-mastering of the song.

6.  CANTO on Mobile Handset Website Update

The Secretariat received a quote for the existing Webmaster. Target date to launch the site in mobile handset is August 2014 - 2 weeks before CANTO 2014.

7.  Revenue Generating Initiatives

Suggestions should be sent to (For discussion at next meeting)

Leon Williams suggested the creation of a formal CANTO Hall of fame to include long standing members and persons who have contributed consistently and significantly to CANTO
