Finding Your Voice:

Who is my target audience? Can I make my target audience smaller and more specific by geography, age or other parameter?
What do I want to move my target audience to do? Do I want them to volunteer, become a member, and donate funds or another activity? Be as specific as possible.
Can I quickly summarize my project? What is unique about this effort? How will my efforts benefit our park and community? Is there a challenge I’m addressing or an opportunity I’m creating through this work?
What Are My Three Key Messages? What are the most important points that I want to convey about this project? Do they capture my vision and reality? Do they empower my partners and allies?

Storytelling

Listening is key….interview someone and craft his/her story

2. Who was involved?
3. What did they do?
4. Why did it matter?
5. When did this happen?
6. What are the details? Fill in the details as best you can.
7. What did you/they overcome?
8. What is the larger lesson/learning?
9. What legacy remains today?

Step-by-Step: “My Story”

Who is my target audience for this story? What is myoverall goal? Why am I telling this story?
Who is ourone person, place or animal? Who is the protagonist of this story?
What is the challenge, problem or opportunity that I can describe?
Share one or two granular details. Can I make my audience feel the story with descriptions?
Can I connect this story back to the challenge, problem or opportunity? Can I show the way towards a resolution or next steps for my target audience?
Evaluate – does my story serve the goal that I outlined at the beginning?
