The DAR Museum’s period rooms are quite interesting, and kids will enjoy the tour too. The 45-minute tour is informative, but the real treat is the “Colonial Adventure” tour for kids. Try to make reservations at least two weeks in advance, but you could get lucky if you call later. Once a month, the museum has a small session for patrons to handle some quilts and have their antique quilts evaluated. Call for reservations

Hillwood House and Gardens:
Public access to the estate is limited to 250 visitors day because of Hillwood’s residential location and zoning restrictions. Due to high demand and our small tour sizes, you will be asked to make a deposit of $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens 65 and older, and $5 for full-time students with identification and children under 18, when you make your reservation. An orientation brochure and tickets will be mailed once we receive our reservation deposit. Please check your tickets to confirm the date and time of your visit and bring these tickets the day of your visit. Hillwood features the most comprehensive collection of 18th and 19th century Russian imperial art outside of Russia, as well as one of the world’s most important collections of 18th century French decorative arts.
Reservations are required to visit Hillwood and can be made by telephone or fax. The Visitor Services staff will confirm reservation requests made via fax.

Supreme Court: On days when the court is not in hearing oral arguments the public lectures take place every half-hour on the hour beginning at 9:30 am and the last lecture at 3:30 pm.
Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-seated basis.
The ground floor of the building, which is the public exhibit, is open from 9 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Washington Monument: Its hours of operation are from 9 am to 4:45 pm, seven days a week. Tickets are required and are distributed either on the Washington Monument grounds at 15th Street and Madison Drive, on a first come first served basis starting at 8 am, or through the National Park Reservation Service available at 1-800-967-2283. They are also available over the Internet at reservations.nps.gov. There is a fee of $1.50 a ticket, with a $0.50 service charge per order, for advanced tickets. All tickets are distributed with a specific time for your tour on the day of distribution only, and one person can obtain up to 6 tickets.
White House Visitors Center: All tours are significantly enhanced if visitors stop by the White House Visitors Center located at the southeast corner of 15th and E Streets, before or after their tour. The Center is open seven days a week from 7:30 am until 4:00 pm and features many aspects of the White House, including its architecture, furnishings, first families, social events, and relations with the press and world leaders, as well as a thirty-minute video. Allow between 20 minutes to one hour to explore the exhibits. The White House Historical Association also sponsors a sales area. Please note that restrooms are available, but food service is not.
