Gleland Matthew Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship Purpose:

It is the sole purpose of the Cook-Cox Foundation to assist in increasing family engagement and provide college scholarships. This scholarship is also designed to assist in uniting family when seeking educational support and providing an advantage due to financial disadvantages. This scholarship has proven to be avenue for advancing educational opportunities. It provides an avenue for training opportunities, set sound foundationstowards the future for family investment, growth, teaching, skills and unity.

Objective:

This family oriented foundation continues to establish and build relationships in the community, it is the objective of the Cook-Cox Family Foundation to provide a scholarship that will meet the needs of individuals and successfully provide advance services and awareness to families and future generations.

Scholarship Award:$200minimum and up to $500 awarded annually.

Scholarship Application Period: The application process will begin annually June 1st day. The application process will end June 30th day. Scholarship applications will be made available on the COXfamilyweb.com. Applications and all required document must be postmarked by US Mail, midnight June 30thfor consideration by the scholarship committee.

Scholarship Award Period:

The scholarship recipients must be presented and participate each year during the Annual Cook-Cox Family Reunion. Applicants will be required to participate in an interview scheduled by the scholarship committee during the annual reunion session. Selected awardee mustbe present to receive award.

Application Criteria

The following items must accompany your application information sheet:

Letter of Good Standing-Grade Point Average minimum of 2.5-Submit High School Transcript or College/University Official Transcript.

2 Letters of Recommendations-Teacher/Community persons.(Must not be a relative)

Letter of Acceptance from Junior College, 4 year University or Technical School

High School Graduates must submit an Official Final Transcript

Verification of Enrollment- Semester Schedule of Classes

500 Word Essay-(The essay must be submitted in the following format; type, double space, 12 Font Size, Romans Time Font).

Essay Question:Describe why you feel that you are best fit to receive this award. What activities have you participated in that is related to family, school or community and the role you play? What were the outcomes of your involvement? What do you expect as a result of receiving the scholarshipaward?

Applications and all required documentation must be postmarked by US Mail, midnightJune 30th for consideration by the scholarship committee. Incomplete application packets may result in disqualification for the award.
