At our last meeting: President Brett Waldera began the meeting by speaking about a request we received from the Hinckley Fish Management area. They were asking for a donation of $900.00 to go toward the purchase of brood minnows. These would be used as a food source for the Muskies they are raising. A motion was made and passed that we fund this project, and we sent them a check. They were very grateful and wanted our chapter to know that they really appreciate our support.
We then talked briefly about the Dr. E.J. Crossman Muskie Symposium that is being sponsored by the Hoosier Chapter of Muskies Inc. They could use some financial support, so we decided to donate $500.00 to help them out.
Brett received an e-mail from Abu-Garcia stating that they are offering all Muskies Inc Chapters a special discount. We can purchase up to three reels yearly at 50% off of their suggested retail price. A motion was made and passed that we purchase these reels for use in our chapter’s fundraising purposes.
The “Hedrick Peer is finally here!” Muskie opener outing is fast approaching. (June 4th). We are still in the process of planning this event and will have further details available at the May meeting. There will be a monetary prize awarded for the largest fish caught. To be eligible to win, you’ll need to pay $5.00 to Brian Grote at the May meeting, or call him to tell him you’ll be there. We’ll meet at 5pm at the Shorewood Pub in Detroit Lakes for lunch and probably a few brews. See you there.
The F-M Chapter received a certificate from Shingwak resort in Souix Narrows, Ontario. The resort is located on the east side of Lake of the Woods, and the certificate is for a weeklong stay at their resort from September 17th to 24th. We have not yet decided how to put this to use, so it was tabled till a later date. We’ll keep you updated.
We really need to know for sure who is planning on fishing the Chapter Challunge. If you are serious about going and have not signed up, call Brian Grote immediately. We need an accurate count of people well in advance to account for the number of cabins we’ll need; the amount of food we’ll need to bring, etc. Don’t delay, call today.
The Chapter Challunge will be held on the Winnipeg River and based out of Paradise Cove Resort. The fishing dates are July 20th-22nd. Any suggestions members may have involving entertainment ideas are welcomed by the club. The Fargo-Moorhead Chapter has always tried to set the standard for this event and we’re always open to new ideas.
At the next meeting: Mike Ruff, maker of the famous Rad Dog spinnerbaits will be here with lures to sell. We will also have two of our club members here to make leaders in any length you like. Don’t forget your wallet.
