Individual Gifts Manager

Royal Cornwall Museum, Truro

The Royal Cornwall Museum, based in Truro, is Cornwall’s key museum for telling the story of Cornish heritage, life and culture through its people and collections – reflecting Cornwall to the world and the world to Cornwall. The museum is responsible for a rich and diverse range of cultural assets, a collection of approximately half a million objects across nine curatorial disciplines.

The museum is recruiting for the role of Individual Gifts Manager who will be instrumental in assisting the museum to develop its future financial resilience by growing the museum’s existing endowment fund. This is a Heritage Lottery Fund supported post as part of a project ‘Endowing the next 200 years’ which seeks to develop opportunities for individual gift giving, using the museum’s bicentenary celebration in 2018 as the platform to develop strong donor relationships into the future.

The museum is at a critical and exciting point in its development and has just embarked on a strategic master planning exercise to establish its future direction and sustainability as part of a strong community and audience-centred approach. This postwill provide essential support for the organisation’s future strategic development and resilience by increasing the museum's permanent endowment fund by at least a further £1million, using the pledged £0.5 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund, to match donations £1 for £1, by incentivising individual donors over the four years of this programme. This will place the organisation in a stronger position to effectively care for the collections, maintain the listed 19thcentury historic building and associated 19th century Baptist chapel, and support opportunities to engage an increasingly diverse audience with an outstanding cultural programme.

If you would like further information and would like to discuss this role informally please contact the Director, Ian Wall, on 01872 242780.
