Purpose of job
The purpose of this job is to:
  • To provide cleaning services for classrooms and teachers’ office based at the ANAOA.
  • To ensure daily cleanness of all designated English classrooms, learning centre and offices.
  • Number of hours per week: 0700-1500 Saturday- Thursday = 40 hours.
  • Working will vary depending on the needs of the operation.
Context and environment
The British Council works in Afghanistan to contribute to the development of next-generation Afghan leadership. We work across several sectors including English language, Exams, Education, Society, Culture and the Arts.
This role is related to our work in English language, and in particular to one of the several English language programmes we run which is called “English for Security & Defence”.
Main duties are:
To provide required cleaning services to teachers’ office, learning centre and all English language classrooms as needed.
  • Clean computer lap, chairs, desks, bookshelves and all other equipment
  • Clean teachers office floor, desks, chairs, file cabinets
  • Empty trash bins of all offices and classrooms
Key relationships
Internal:Programme Manager, English for Security & Defence; teachers and learning centre coordinators; British Council colleagues
External:learners and students; authorities and other instructors at the base/institution where the learning centre is based.
Other important features or requirements of the job
Flexibility is essential andthe post-holder needs the ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and with minimal direct supervision.
Travel to the British Council’s offices and other venues will be required in line with business needs.
