Grades 9 & 10 Respect: Why Does It Matter

Vocations Theme: The 8th gradeexplored this theme on October 21st when they took a field trip to St. Francis Seminary. This topic/field trip will also be a part of the Confirmation curriculum on Sunday, December 15th.

Our CLOTHING DRIVE ended on Monday, November 4th. Thank you for assisting the H.E.L.P. program with your donation.

Meal Program: On Thursday, November 21,the high school students will have an opportunity to help out at the St. Vincent de Paul meal program. I could still use 3 or 4 more students. (The permission slip is attached to this packet.) OnWednesday, November 13, volunteers from the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classes will be greeting people and serving food at the St. Vincent de Paul meal center as well. I would like to thank them and their parents who are helping out as well for donating their time and faith to this worthy cause.

Grade 2 Parents: Reminder that parent sessions for 1st Reconciliation begin on November 5th. Please check your calendar or the letter I sent earlier this month about times, dates and locations.

Important Yearly Reminder: The Fire Department has designated the entire curb in front of the church as a no parking zone. Therefore, students should not be dropped off in front of church but in the church parking lot. From there they can use the church walkway to get to class. The opposite is also true for picking up your children. They should take the sidewalk to the church parking lot to be picked up by you. Safety is always a concern and when it is dark before and after class it is just too dangerous to have kids running between cars. Thank you.

With regards to our policy about “snow days”, the following applies:

1. If the WauwatosaSchool District, MilwaukeePublic Schoolsor St. Jude’s cancels classes, we do not have Religious Education classes.

2. If the weather is in question as a Monday progresses and St.JudeDay School is in session, listen to the radio for a cancellation notice. We will let them know by 4:00pm. (WTMJ, WISN, Channels 4 and 12.)

3. Special Education and High School Parents: Please listen to the radio. We will call to cancel classes by 7:00am.

4. PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE OFFICE TO SEE IF CLASSES HAVE BEEN CANCELLED.

Re: Advent Service Project

Each year, all of the grades pick out a service opportunity that just their class will work on for Advent/Christmas. This year we have been asked to help out the Walker’s Point Youth and Family Center. The mission of this center is to meet the needs of runaway, homeless and other troubled youth and their families. They are always in need of a wide variety of things of which I am narrowing down. I am asking that during the season of Advent, you would consider donating some of these items. Please bring them to the Religious Education Office. I will be collecting them until December 15th.

Thank you so much for your generosity towards those who are really struggling.

Peace to you,

Gary Heun
