Caddo Mills FFA Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria

1.  One (1) five hundred dollar scholarship will be given to the most qualified graduating FFA Senior.

2.  Student must have completed a minimum of five semesters of Agri. Science.

3.  Student must have been an FFA member for five semesters.

4.  Student must complete and file with the Agri. Science Instructor a copy of the Caddo Mills FFA Memorial Scholarship application.

5.  Applications are due the 27th day of April, 2012

To Make Claim of the Scholarship

1.  Student must complete one semester of college, junior college, or trade school.

2.  Student must have a 2.0 college GPA or better.

3.  Student must be classified as a full time student or carry a minimum of twelve hours.

4.  Student must claim scholarship by the end of the third regular High School semester. (Summer sessions not included)

5.  Payment of Scholarship will be paid the second college semester after showing proof of college enrollment.

Funding of the Scholarship

1.  The Caddo Mills FFA will be responsible for raising all funds for the scholarship.

2.  All profits collected from the Caddo Mills Fall Fundraiser will be deposited into the scholarship account.

3.  The scholarship fund can be added to by individual contributions.

4.  Funds collected after April 1st or the first working day of April will be used for next year’s scholarships.

Presentation of the Scholarship

1.  Students will be notified of scholarship recipients at the Caddo Mills FFA Annual Awards Ceremony.

2.  Students will be honored with a certificate and recognition during the Graduation Ceremony.

3.  Recipients will have their names engraved on a plaque exhibited in the High School Ag Science Department.

Instructions for Completing the APPLICATION:

The Applicant Must:

  1. Record activities accumulated during the High School career.
  2. Be a dues paying member for at least 5 semesters.
  3. Have completed five Semester of Agricultural Science classes.

The Application Will Be:

  1. Checked for accuracy.
  2. Collected no later than the 27th of April, 2012

Scholarship Interview:

1.  Each applicant will be interviewed by three interviewers.

2. The same three interviewers will score all candidates.

3. Interviewer selection will be appointed by local school administration.

4. Interviewers will grade each scholarship candidate on the following:

a. Poise

b. Grammar

c. Eye Contact

d. Appearance

e. Written Personal Statement

5. Interviewers will rate applicants on a 1-25 point scale.

6 Interviewers will drop the lowest score; add four sets of points, then divide by four for the individual score.

7. The three interviewer’s scores will then be averaged for the applicant’s interview score.

8. Topics of discussion should pertain to agriculture and future plans.

Scholarship Score Tabulation

1.  The point system will be used to score FFA and Non FFA activity.

2.  One point is earned from the three FFA activities or five Non FFA activities.

3.  All FFA points will come from the Memorial Scholarship application.

4.  The High School counselor will be responsible for tabulating application scores.

5.  Final points for FFA and Non FFA activities will be an average of the three tabulator’s scores.

Criteria E will be judged by a panel of three (3) Caddo Mills High School Teachers of which one will be the Agriscience Teacher.

Criteria A through E have points assigned and the highest points accumulated by students will the recipient of the Caddo Mills FFA Memorial Scholarship.

Score Sheet Criteria:

A. Sat Scores Act Scores

200-500 =1pt. 0-11

501-700 =2pt. 12-14

701-1000 =3pt. 15-20

1001-1200 =4pt. 21-25

1201& up =5pt. 26& up

B. GPA

70-74=1pt.

75-79=2pt.

80-84=3pt.

85-89=4pt.

90 & up=5pt.

C. Activities/Organizations

3 FFA or Ag related = 1 pt.

5 non FFA or Ag related =1 pt.

D. Interview

1. Interview discussion must be Ag related.

2. Each judge gives 1-25 pts. per category, the lowest category dropped, and the remaining 4 will be averaged. Next, the judges scored will be averaged for each applicant.

E. Personal Qualities

3 teachers will score each applicant 1-35pts. for each trait on the personal qualities worksheet. The teacher scores will then be averaged for the applicant’s total score.
