April 30, 2015

Dear Sir/Madam:

In an effort to increase the college bound culture within our student population, Fort Worth ISD is sponsoring a Middle School College & Career Expo for our eighth grade students. Research shows the more exposure students receive to college and career information, the more likely they will believe college and career opportunities are available for them to pursue. According to the “Getting Ready for College Early” publication by the U.S. Department of Education, “By the time a child is in the sixth grade, families should start talking about going to college and finding a career.”

You are cordially invited to send representatives/alumni from your institution/organization to participate in our seventh annual Middle School College & Career Expo program. This great educational event will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Tarrant County College – South Campus, 5301 Campus Dr., Fort Worth, TX 76119 in the Health and Physical Education Building (SHPE). Please see attached map.

The Middle School College & Career Expo will create an avenue for this dialog to occur and the catalyst for both students and parents to start thinking more seriously about college and careers. We have approximately 28 middle school campuses within Fort Worth ISD and an eighth grade population of approximately 6,000 students. The eighth grade students will be given transportation to this event on a rotation schedule throughout the school day. In addition, parents will be invited to participate in this spectacular event with their child.

In order to provide your representative(s) with ample space, signs and services, please RSVP on-line at http://tinyurl.com/FWISD-Expo2015 by Friday, April 10, 2015. If it is more convenient, please feel to RSVP by contacting our office at 817-814-2575 or emailing us at . Breakfast and table set-up will begin at 8:30 a.m. Also, we will provide lunch for all representatives. Volunteers will be available to provide assistance with materials and set-up.
