HIGH SCHOOL MATH PROGRAMS
GRADUATION PROGRAM
This program is for students who need a less aggressive approach to math and need to slow it down. This program fulfills the NY State minimum graduation requirements for math.Typical students selected for this program would finish Math 8 with a final grade within the 65% – 79% range and/or score below a level 3 on the NY State Math 8 Exam.
Grade 9 – Algebra A
Grade 10 – Algebra B (student takes the NYS Algebra I (Common Core)Regents Exam in June)
Grade 11 or 12 – The student may get their third high school math credit from the following courses: Geometry (non-regents), Accounting, or math credit earned through participation in an approved CV-Tech. program.
(minimum of 3 high school math credits)
COLLEGE PREP PROGRAM
This program is for students planning on continuing their education beyond highschool in a typical four year college program. A final grade in Math 8 of 80% or higher and a score of level 3 or higher on the NYS Math 8 Exam is typically required to enter this program.
Grade 9 – Algebra I (NYS Regents Exam in June)
Grade 10 – Geometry (NYS Regents Exam in June)
Grade 11 –Algebra II (NYS Regents Exam in June)
Grade 12 – Pre-calculus or Statistics(for college credit)
(4or 5 high school math credits)
ACCELERATED PROGRAM
This program is for gifted math students andrequires departmental invitation, 92% or higher in Math 6, & a minimum of level 4 on the NY State Math 6 Exam.
Grade 7 – Math 8
Grade 8 – Algebra I (NYS Regents Exam in June)
Grade 9 – Geometry (NYS Regents Exam in June)
Grade 10 – Algebra II (NYS Regents Exam in June)
Grade 11 – Pre-calculus (for college credit)
Grade 12 – Calculus and/or Statistics (for college credit)
(5 or 6 high school math credits)
