  1. Secretary’s report (Alice) - Directory update had great response this year. Question: should we distribute the Directory as a .PDF file via email or by hard copy only (mail it to dues-paying members)? No vote to .PDF distribution. Distribute at the Annual Meeting and by US Mail only.

  1. Water Quality (Mike) – Water Quality is still great. No problems, no issues.
  2. Lake Host – Wendy is discouraged. Patty quit leaving us without a paid Lake Host for the rest of the summer. We need a paid Lake Host ASAP, and unless we get one the program will have a $400 surplus with the NH Lakes Association that will be refunded, minus a 10% administrative fee. The good news is the CITs from the camp did a great job as volunteer Lake Hosts this year.

Question re: Zebra mussels – what program is responsible for watching/protecting against them? Mike will find out.

  1. Weed Watchers (Evie for Vicki Davis) – The Common Reed, an invasive exotic, has been identified along the eastern shore of the large part of the lake by the Dept of Environmental Services (DES). It spreads very fast and must be removed, though removal is tricky because seeds may easily be shaken and dispersed from the tassels. DES has informed the property owner (Jerry Blank).

The camp’s waterfront staff did the weed watching this year in the large end of the lake, and we have not heard the results. Evie and Vicki did most of the weed watching at the small end of the lake and things are okay. Evie found a suspicious plant, which the state said was bladderwort (has small yellow flower) and is not a danger.

  1. Food Pantry Donations “Armington Gives Back” – Bins are ready for end-of-summer food donations in the Cahill’s garage.
  2. House Numbers for 911 Calls – Barb Fitzpatrick and the FAST Squad are still working to get all homes and cottages in Piermont appropriately numbered with 3-inch high reflective numbers on green stakes, at the FAST Squad expense. In an emergency, homes in the area are often difficult to locate.
  3. Boat Operator’s License –Now required for all operators of water crafts of 25+ horsepower. Marine Patrol will check.
  4. Boat Safety Issues - Excessive speed and not observing ‘no wake’ zone within 150’ of shore, swimmer, other boats.

New Business

  1. Several burglaries have been reported around the lake this season including: kayaks stolen from underneath Marg Light’s cottage, items in the Blank’s shed and an engine from the Caswell’s float. (At the Annual Meeting we learned that summer renters were responsible for the theft at the Caswell’s).
  2. Ann Soloway gave a tour of the camp to Polly and invites everyone to do this during camp season next year. Polly was impressed with the camp facilities and quality of camp programs.
