Executive Summary
Task instruction: Prepare a business report based on your research findings that includes:3. Executive summary (suggested length of 1 page) that overviews the purpose of this report. The executive summary should be the last section you write after the remainder of the report is completed. The executive summary is a mini-version of your paper and should not exceed one page.
For information about executive summaries, please refer to the study materials. Please note that your executive summary, and your paper, should be written using single spaced text.
Introduction
Task instruction: Prepare a business report based on your research findings that includes: 4. Introduction (suggested length of 1 page) that will: a. Introduce the subject and purpose of the report; b. Preview the main ideas of the report; c. Establish your relationship to the audience. It is recommended that you use single spaced text as you see here.
Regarding item 4c, please keep in mind that your relationship with the audience will come from the scenario you selected from the topic list. In some cases your position is specified. In others you will need to define your hypothetical job title and the audience you would be presenting to. Generally, your audience will either be superiors or equals. For example, you might be a human resources assistant presenting your research findings to the human resources director. For information about creating business reports, please see the recommended study materials.
Research Findings
Task instruction: Prepare a business report based on your research findings that includes: 5. Body of the report (suggested length of 3-5 pages) that will: a. Present the information gathered during your research investigation; b. Analyze and interpret the information gathered during your research investigation; c. Make a recommendation to management based on the topic’s research findings.
While this section can be done in a variety of ways, there are some recommendations that will make these requirements blatantly clear to the grader – enabling them to quickly find and evaluate your work. First I would recommend that you choose 3 main points from your research. This should provide enough information to help you make a compelling case for your recommendations, while keeping the paper to its size limit. Second, subhead the analysis for each point. Third, replace these paragraphs under “Research Findings” with a simple introduction; perhaps something like this: “From extensive research, using a variety of relevant and credible resources, there are three issues that should be considered: 1)….; 2)….; 3)….”
Finding Number 1
Naturally this subheader “Finding Number 1” would actually be changed to describe the first main idea. Then you would describe what you found and be sure to include quotes or paraphrases from your research. After each of those references, be sure to include a correct in-text citation (APA) format. Keep in mind that this task requires you to reference 10 sources in your paper (and include an accompanying Reference page.
Analysis: After you describe your main point and include references, please offer your analysis of the information here. By beginning the paragraph with a bolded word, we make it painfully obvious to the grader that this is where they will find the student’s analysis of the information, which is something they have to grade.
Finding Number 2
Naturally this subheader “Finding Number 2” would actually be changed to describe the second main idea. Then you would describe what you found and be sure to include quotes or paraphrases from your research. After each of those references, be sure to include a correct in-text citation (APA) format. Keep in mind that this task requires you to reference 10 sources in your paper (and include an accompanying Reference page.

Finding Number 3
Naturally this subheader “Finding Number 3” would actually be changed to describe the third main idea. Then you would describe what you found and be sure to include quotes or paraphrases from your research. After each of those references, be sure to include a correct in-text citation (APA) format. Keep in mind that this task requires you to reference 10 sources in your paper (and include an accompanying Reference page. If you have more than 3 main points, please feel free to add them. Follow the same format for consistency.

Recommendations
This will be the last section of the body of your paper in which you will provide your audience (your company’s management) with your recommendations for action. Again, you could begin by replacing this text with an appropriate introduction. Then you could number, or bullet your recommendations, to make it easier to read. For example:
- Recommendation One:This would be your first recommendation. You could bold it as I have here. Then you should explain or describe the recommendation more fully.
- Recommendation Two: With whichever format you choose, please follow it with all your recommendations.
- Recommendation Three: Three is always a nice number to use when putting a paper together.
Conclusion
Task instruction: Prepare a business report based on your research findings that includes: 6. Conclusion that will: a. Emphasize the main points of the message; b. Reiterate the logic behind your conclusions and recommendations; c. Summarize the benefits to the reader. This task can generally be done in 1-2 paragraphs.
For information about writing conclusions, please see the recommended study materials. Please also be sure that you update your table of contents so that the page numbers, header titles, and such are correct. MS Word has an automatic Table of Contents feature. Feel free to use it (since that is how I set up this template).

Enter your APA formatted citations here. Here are a few general tips you will want to follow:
- Citations must be in correct APA style format. For help on full and in-text citations, please visit or Be sure that all your references in the body of your paper include in-text citations.
- Citations must be formatted with a hanging indent. In MSWord, you can learn how to do this; here is a tutorial you may wish to check out. While this instructor is discussing a bibliography, please keep in mind you are doing a reference page, which has slightly different requirements.
- The reference organization document (task B1) should be a completely separate document, and should be submitted as a separate document.
