Approval of Meeting Minutes / Jenna moved to approve the minutes and Ken seconded the motion. The February 23, 2015 meeting minutes were approved by the committee. / Eileen Crump
Fall 2015 Flex Week / Workshops:
- The New Full-Time Faculty Orientation (Jennifer Gardner, Ryan Petitfils and Philip Clinton will help organize)
- Part-time Faculty Orientation (Michelle Millea will organize. Eileen will forward last year’s agenda to Michelle)
- Equity (College president wants workshops related to the topic of equity.)
- Accreditation self-study
- Student Learning Outcomes
- Other campus initiatives
- (Flip no presentations, bbq)
- Participatory governance and decision-making on campus.
- Foster Youth speaker
Sharon will type topics and give to Greg Gillespie for review. / Sharon Beynon
Equity Roundtable
Discussion / The Equity Roundtable will be held on Thursday, April 9 at 3:30 pm – 4:45 pm in Guthrie Hall. / Sharon Beynon
Summer Institute for Teaching Excellence / SITE will be held May 26 – 29. So far, about 40 faculty members have signed up.
The planning committee is still working on the schedule. / Sharon Beynon
Colloquium / The Colloquium will be held on Thursday, April 23 from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm in Guthrie Hall. / Jenna Garcia, Sharon Beynon
Aligning Learning and Academic Success (ALAS) Grant / The committee unanimously voted to review all submitted ALAS Grant applications for approval.
The ALAS goal is to strengthen transfer rate and student success in working with high impact practices. A primary objective of the grant is to develop the capacity of faculty to effectively implement high-impact and engaging pedagogies most responsive to student needs.
Classified Staff Retreat / The Classified Staff Retreat will be held on Tuesday, March 31. On the agenda:
- Personnel Professional Development Plan
- Shared Governance
- Evacuation Chair Demonstration
- Active Shooter on Campus Presentation and Discussion
- Associated Students of Ventura College (ASVC) Presentation
- Giveaways for classified staff that attended the retreat.
- Breakfast and lunch
