RESPONSIBLE TO:Head of the Family Department
2.JOB PURPOSE
To provide Legal services to clients in areas of Family Law.
3.JOB ACTIVITIES
3.1.To provide legal services to clients in the areas of Family Law.
3.2.To attend Court and elsewhere and take notes as and when required.
3.3.To maintain client files and conduct your work as specified in the Office manual.
3.4.To delegate cases received by you but which are not within the parameters of your workload to others within the practice who have appropriate experience.
3.5.To allocate work to your own secretary and to check the same.
3.6.To be responsible for the day to day supervision of support staffwhich have bee assigned to you delegate appropriate work to them.
3.7.To take steps as are necessary to ensure that bills and other sums due to the Firm in your cases are promptly paid.
3.8.To report to the Managing Partner forthwith any complaint or negligence claim received.
3.9.To comply with all regulations as set out by the Legal Services Commission which are appropriate to yourposition.
3.10.To carry out the costing of files.
3.11.In carrying out your duties to act at all times in a way that is consistent with the Firm’s professional status and promotes the good name and standing of the Firm.
3.12.To keep the affairs of the Firm and its clients confidential and secret except as is necessary for the discharge of your duties.
3.13.To report to the Firm’s Money Laundering Reporting Officer any suspicious transactions as specified in the Firm’s Money Laundering Manual.
3.14.To receive on the job training in order to allow for personal development.

4.1Supervisory and Managerial Responsibilities
To supervise the work of your secretary.
4.2Decisions Made
To prioritise your own workload. To ensure that bills are sent to clients as and when necessary and the firm’s debt collection procedure followed.
4.3Work Complexity
A knowledge and understanding of family law and procedures is essential as is a good knowledge of computers.
4.4Supervision Received
Overall supervision from John Mitchell.
4.5Contacts
Staff within the Firm, clients and outside organisations.
4.6Experience
A prior knowledge of Family Law essential
4.7Qualifications
2 years PQE desirable
