Member Requirements
The Serenata Strolling Strings/ Honors Chamber Orchestra is an experienced, committed group of students that rehearse and perform for many venues throughout the Lehigh Valley region. We can operate only if every member is responsible, dedicated and able to follow the regulations required in order to have successful performances and great experience for the students, the school district, and the public.
Please INITIAL if you agree to commit to the following standards:
___ I will commit to practicing and learning the strolling strings music selections and
will perform to the best of my ability.
___ I will attend at least 60% of the strolling performances. We perform 8-10X per
semester =16-20x a year at various times and days. A schedule will be given ASAP
and students will sign-up for dates of availability.
*Students are EXCUSED by PHS. Also, please bring lunch on days you miss yours.
___ IMPORTANT! As a member of Strolling Strings & Honors Orchestra, I will
attend mandatory rehearsals on Wednesday afternoons 3:00-4:30 Sept-May). I know that I cannot schedule ANYTHING else at that time. (other clubs, non-emergency doctor/dentist appointments, etc.) If there is a PHS sport conflict that is part-time or seasonal, I can work out another rehearsal time with Mr. Mishler. I will be responsible to Mr. Mishler and my fellow students concerning this. If I miss rehearsal for any reason (unless absent from school), I realize that I will have a zero for my rehearsal grade until I make up the time with Mr. Mishler
___ I will communicate personally (face to face is preferable) with Mr. Mishler any
issues regarding rehearsal or performance excusals, and if necessary have my parent confirm a reason that I may have to miss an important rehearsal or performance. *A note, email or phone call is acceptable if it is 1-2 days or more ahead of time. Last minute drop-outs, or not showing up is unacceptable!
___ I will be responsible for my strolling uniform and keep it clean, pressed, (at
least every 3-4X)…have proper black dress shoes, and always store them in an identified garment bag.
___ I will follow all the rules for behavior as given in the student handbook for in-
school as well as after-school field trips; I will conduct myself in a mature manner becoming of a strolling strings member and representative of Parkland HS.
